Re: ?ESKO - Czech Republic 2011

They should return only if they start caring more about the contest... They've sent songs that have pretty much no appeal to the majority (2008 kinda but badly sung and too cheap, IMO). Won't be too missed but I want to see Slovakia/Hungary/Poland succeed. Don't know whether ot not Czechia will really help them. Czechs are more like the Germans and Austrians (, then again in 2007 they didn't award any points to each other which was weird...).

I don't think they'll come back, unlike Austria, Hungary or even Liechtenstein!

Czech will unlikely come back. The interest for this in Czech Republic is very low, they flopped everytime they tried and the failures of Poland & Slovakia will unlikely make them more willing to take part.

I would like them to try again and this time with an actual GOOD entry, but unlikely.

I really liked their 2008 entry. Most countries aren't successful the first few times, they should try again.

That doesn't surprise me. They gave ESC a shot and it didn't work. Hope to see them back at some time in the future though.

I didn't expect them to come back, so not a surprise there. But still, I hope they'll come back in the near future.

It's not about the low interest of the Czech people... it's more about the low interest of the national broadcaster. They should have worked harder on ESC related promo events and TV shows.

Why would the Eurovision Song Contest attract any interest in the Czech Republic if they don't even know what is all about?

^ Czech performers participated for 3 years straight, they had the MOST famous Czech performers in the NF, they were represented by people who use to hold #1 place in the charts for weeks.
They had quite big promotional campaign and actually I don't think that their ratings were really low :)
When they changed the Head of the broadcaster in 2009 the attitude changed. Go figure.
They send the MOST popular Czech performers with quite sucky performances @ ESC. The new bosses didn't want to invest money and be busy with preparing ESC entries.
I don't think that this attitude would change in the near future.
