I could really see me loving the beat and the song but his voice/ vocal tone is totally destroying everything for me and I’m surprised that nobody else is talking about that, everyone seems to be totally in love with this entry.

Nope. His voice and tone are totally off-putting to me. I couldn't make it through the whole song due to that.

I don't really like his voice either. Song is ok but would have much preferred Mentissa. :6: in poll

I am shocked!!! You don't know Queensryche??? That here was a big hit in the 80's:

80s metal/hard rock was aside from AC/DC never my cup of tea.
around 1986 or so i went more into the indie, prog oder industrial direction and 1989 all things changed a lot with faith no more and other harder bands.
so i trapped here into a black metal hole but the song "jet city woman" is ok.

Surprising that "Monster" sounded much better in the final performance. In these fake times, I think there has been a good amount of auto-tune or pitch-correction in it.

So sad that "Strobe Lights" won over "Monster"

Red Sebastian's performance is too restrained for the song, making him look too unnatural on the stage.

Well, I am very late to the party here, because I was busy with exams this week. What can I say? I am very hapy Red Sebastian won. It's probably just a matter of taste, but I didn't like Désolée at all. I understand a lot of what people are saying. Sebastian (let's call him that for now - I know his real name is Seppe) looks very nervous in that performance and thus the whole thing comes out a little robotic. What I cannot really agree with is people hating on his vocals. I mean, it's one thing to say, that you just don't like the tone of his voice, because you don't like such style of singing, but there's a lot of people out there outright saying that he sings bad/cannot sing etc. This is simply not true. The whole live performance he's on-key and it sounds pretty much the same as the studio version. Saying that he cannot sing is simply untrue and pretty rude.
Overall, I'm willing to give the performance a solid 7️⃣ or 8️⃣. Like I said though, the song is just right up my alley in terms of style. I'd rate it higher if it wasn't for what I wrote about earlier - Sebastian's nervousness and kind of robotic live performance.

I've given the live version of Strobe Lights one more listen, and it still doesn't change the fact that if I hadn't seen the rating from the bookmakers I would have expected this entry to be in the bottom third. It's actually unpleasant to listen to this song at times, and I'll therefore downgrade from 4 to 3.

Careful epileptic people...
It's a good rave type song. It's not very original but it serves its purpose. He's rather good at doing what he does and he will set the stage on fire. It should work pretty well.

As for Mentissa, her song was really not on the level of her previous tunes so it's not a bad thing she didn't win. Now RTBF better book her now, work on a proper tune and get her win Eurovision next year !

Okay, so it's finally time for me to post something about this now. I liked it, but as many others seem to think, it got kind of overshadowed by other entries as they were released. It's minimalistic and monotonous without getting boring. I think they can get a very decent result, around 10th place, but it needs a different staging.

I never understood why Belgium remained so high in the odds, but now - finally - the song is almost out of the top 10. It seems the bookmakers are sometimes quite stubborn when it comes to their initial favourites.

The problem for me with this song is that no matter how many times I have listened to it, I can't remember a single lyric or the beat of the song even the slightest.
