We are barely a week away from the Eurovision 2019 final ending but already artists in countries across Europe are looking ahead to 2020. One such artist, according to HLN in Belgium, is the 16 year old finalist of this year’s The Voice van Vlaanderen, Wannes Lacroix.
In the interview, posted yesterday before the show’s conclusion this evening, the young performer wanted to use The Voice as a platform to lead to a participation in Eurovision; “I do not assume that I am going to win, but I am already working on the future. This is how I would like to participate in Eurosong [Eurovision]”.
The young artist will have no better opportunity to learn from the best tonight, as the reigning Eurovision champion Duncan Laurence is in Belgium to perform at the show’s grand final.
Belgium are beginning to curate a history of The Voice artists in Eurovision, with Roberto Bellarosa, Loïc Nottet, Laura Tesoro, Blanche and this year’s entrant Eliot all coming from one of the two Belgian versions of the show – so it seems likely that this could be a viable route in 2020!
