Maybe the numbers needed should be altered slightly, so that instead of < 30 participants, there should be < 35 participants and the semis are scrapped. I'd much rather listen to one big 34 song final with a longer deadline, than have just 16-17 songs to find a top ten from in a semi.

I think that's more a matter of personal preference tho. I struggled in 20+ songs semis with making up my top 10 as well at times. I don't mind semis with 15-20 that much. It gives ESC-vibes a bit, you can get to know the songs a little bit better and personally I do like the semis-structure. One big final with 34 songs can get a bit tiring as well. In FSC I felt exhausted in the end, especially after a bad edition.

And for the whole WV-discussion. I mean, no shade, but NSC has like 60+ players (including WL) but it doesn't really feels vibrant to me. WV might have only 30-40 players right now, but still there is some activity in the boards, discord etc.

One thing to maybe look for could be to promote this more in the ESC-section. I came from there as well, but not everyone makes the effort to jump into these online contests. For a long time I avoided this board as well as I just felt this was all too much new information and just a lot to get into.

Dear WV community,

In light of the recent decrease of participants in the contest, and as a general desire to consider the relevance of some rules, the following changes have been implemented.

See spoilers for a comparison.

• The OP is reduced to 1 edition for returning members. This rule is retroactive, meaning the people currently on the list will benefit from it.

OLD

4. OP members can enter contest when there is an available spot. The spot will simply be given to the person who is top of the list. Note that the person should observate the run of contest minimum 2 full editions to have an opportunity to get a spot.

NEW

4. OP members can enter the contest when there is an available spot. If the roster is full, the spot will simply be given to the person who is top of the list. In case it isn't, members can join the contest when they have completed their Observation Period.
Newcomers should observe the run of the contest for 2 full editions before receiving an invitation. This period is reduced to 1 edition for returning members.

• Sanctions have been decreased by 1 degree. Failing to vote once will result in a warning, and a sanction will be applied if this failure is repeated within the subsequent 5 editions.

These sanctions are the standard sanctions for all types of violation. Note that these sanctions accumulate collectively; we will count the total number of times a rule is violated regardless of the type of rule that is violated.

1 sanction - 1 edition ban, i.e. banned for 1 edition, and not allowed to send an entry or vote;
2 sanctions - elimination from the contest and ban for 2 editions;

5 sanctions - elimination from the contest and ban for 8 editions;
6 and more sanctions - elimination from the contest and ban for 10 editions.
