2002 was definitely not the worst, it had some iconic moments.

I remember that contest vividly, because I watched it with my family at their home (my husband was off to work that weekend). They all nearly had a breakdown when Latvia won and my mum would not stop bemoaning it was only because of her dress and how lame it was to win playing (foul)… hilarious.

For me, the 2002 winner is the worst of all winners I'm aware of. (I haven't watched many pre 1970s winners, and not familiar with some of the 1980s winners).
I actually really liked Estonia's winning song in 2001 - which probably is an unpopular opinion. Sure, it wouldn't win today as the standard is much higher, but it was a fun party song and makes me smile.

Undoubtedly 2009 - out of these. From the 2009 edition I still love and listen to: Iceland, Russia, Norway, Azerbadjan, Turkey, Armenia, B&H, Estonia, Albania, France (in random order).

Back in the days there were way fewer participation countries, but 1969 was a great edition for it's time (Portugal, France, UK, Italy)

And 1983 was the best edition for a long time: Sweden, France, Italy, Israel, Yugoslavia...
