Watkiss was nowhere to be seen, and they surely won't do the final without him. No doubt the other guy was just a stand-in.

I feel people are taking things too seriously.. as for me this show requires a song to stand out visually, and that's exactly what this concept will assure.. there is no doubt everyone will remember this staging come voting, so the practical aim will be achieved. And the song itself is surely not cheesier than most at this contest.. unfortunately this is not a heavy metal fest.. So overall i think the visual effects pretty much fit both the song and the show format and are likely to be a success

Come on guys, Clevland parts are very important, at least in my opinion. They give this song a special spirit. Hope he'll be back for next rehearsals!

Well, I've never walked by a giant with a black T-shirt with the text "Zlata Ognevich" before in my life

Maybe it was Farid?

Igor? Maybe he's pulling the truck along. He looks a very strong chap!

I didn't know his name, everyone has just been referring to him as "the giant" everywhere

Well, honestly I felt sorry for him, he really had problems walking... and in a sense I feel like Ukraine is sort of using him like this prop... I mean it's 2013 now, not some circus in the early 1900's where we make "fun of" people's disabilities.

He has done acting work though I believe. I suppose it's the same as hiring dwarfs to play the role of.. well.. dwarfs in fairy tale films. Hopefully Igor's participation will be seen in a positive light. I watched an interview with him and he seemed a really nice chap and felt very happy to be with Zlata.

It's no doubt Ukraine are using him though but then it's the same as Germany using Dita Von Teese, Dima using that ice skater etc. They just wanted a big man for their fairytale like performance.

To me, seeing the giant man there is really painful. It only makes Zlata look like a tiny thing when he carries her and that image looks really weird to me...Besides, he doesn't do anything else during the performance. He is just a carrier used during those first seconds. And how is he supposed to make this a fairytale? Princes have normal heights, too...I simply don't get it. This song could easily have a good performance just for the song itself and the vocals. They are just making it too weird...

I see...

Still though, he is being used because of his disability... that's not the case with the others. I mean I know people may not think of it like that, but unfortunately what comes to my mind are like old school circuses and freak shows... I would have hoped we'd moved on from treating people like props in such fashion.

But then again, who would play the role of a dwarf or a giant in a move with such characters if not a dwarf or a giant?...

As long as he feels comfortable with it and not exploited then it's all fine by me...

Yeah, stuff like this can make me really uncomfortable. The difference though is many years ago, these people didn't have a choice. Their mothers gave them away to circus's as soon as they were born or developed a sign of their disability. being laughed at in a freak show is a lot worse than carrying the beautiful Zlata to her podium at the eurovision song contest.

As you say, as long as he's happy which I think he is :)

on the plus side she sings her ass-ets off
speaking of assets, this dress (aside from being tacky) makes her look flat as an ironboard, and she actual is quite "well rounded"
also, not sure if this has been posted here...

when this was posted/linked on the team's page, it led to some awkward closure of threads and deleted posts...
take it with a pound of salt though lol

This is pretty lame if you ask me, I expected more from Ukraine.

For example, those things hanging there in this picture are used in Ukrainian performance too but are set way higher. So, what if each of them would go down every time she says - GRAVITY? :p Each in different color or something. Fun, if you ask me. :p

I don't think they're making fun of him at all. Are the makers of "Game of Thrones" making fun of Peter Dinklage? No, their scripts called for a little person. Likewise, the Ukrainian delegation felt like including a giant in their stage show because it centers on fairytales.

It's like saying Loreen will be using children as props and making fun of them.

But you see, freak show/sideshow workers didn't have a choice. They were either sold to the circus or couldn't find other jobs. Also, we were meant to laugh at them. Even if some people will laugh at Igor, his inclusion is not meant to be at his expense.

He had some scheduled performance yesterday, he'll be back ;)
A backing singer is holding concerts?!
