I think commercially this will be the most successful entry of this season anyway. It's funny how some online think it’s breaking news to KAJ that juries may not like ‘Bara Bada Bastu’. They explained many times in interviews during and after Mello that humour is their passion and while they understand some people are ‘annoyed by humour in music’, they won’t change who they are as artists.
Most casuals (the majority of the voters) won't know anything about the current oddsTo be honest, I would like Sweden to drop a bit in the odds. I am a big fan of KAJ but being the early favourite can actually be a disadvantage. It increases expectation, criticism and the audience prefers to support an underdog.
Medina is a highly relevant comparison. I can't help thinking that they must have felt gutted seeing KAJ winning with a joke entry in Swedish after Medina had tried just that (and come close) a couple of times. But will Sweden support another joke entry next year? I doubt it.I hopewill have the courage to send Medina if KAJ do well

Well juries will and they vote exactly for odds faves. Not in particular order but countries are same. Televoters mostly are not aware thats why televote results are more interesting or even shocking sometimesMost casuals (the majority of the voters) won't know anything about the current odds

Which is why it's better for a televote magnet to be high in the odds.Well juries will and they vote exactly for odds faves. Not in particular order but countries are same. Televoters mostly are not aware thats why televote results are more interesting or even shocking sometimes
Among all the entries in the category joke entry, that of KAJ is definitely in the more joking end.KAJ is not a joke. They incorporate humor but take their music and performances seriously. I brought up Medina because their music is great party.
I think many fans have the definition that a joke entry is making fun of the contest. If you look at it that way not many eurovision songs actually fit the definition of joke entry. Ireland and Estonia 2008 are two prime examples of it and considering his joost collaboration I'd argue that tommy cash's espresso machiato also meets that definition.Among all the entries in the category joke entry, that of KAJ is definitely in the more joking end.
You can always debate what the definition of joke entry is, but if a song about sitting in a sauna performed by comedians isn't a joke entry, I think your definition is too narrow.
I mean - take a look at those lyrics:
"Sauna brothers, we're the ones who glow, hundred degrees, well then
Just having a sauna, sauna, throw on so that the sweat just whirls around
Oh, sauna bathing, yeah"
Add to that the genre of their music.
Joke entries can be good. The word may have been derogative at first, but since they're present at basically every Eurovision these years, I see no problem in distinguishing between good and bad joke entries. Finland sent a relatively bad joke entry last year, Sweden sends a quite good joke entry this year.
You're right that if somebody thinks joke entries are about making fun of Eurovision, then there are not many of those.I think many fans have the definition that a joke entry is making fun of the contest. Besides you can also look at it as a song about finnish and northern swedish culture with and emphasis on taking time out to relax and recharge which is probably a more important message than singing about unrequited love (I do love Austria though)

In my view, joke entries are songs that are deliberately kitschy (both in terms of staging, lyrics, and music genre) and are primarily intended to make people laugh and/or "have a party".
Tommy Cash definitely brings a joke entry to Switzerland. Last year's entries from Croatia, Finland and Estonia were joke entries too. Was "Cha Cha Cha" a joke entry? Yeah, I think so. As mentioned earlier, some may not like the term joke entry, but I can't think of a better name for it.
I think the reason why those entrys have been seen as joke entries was their staging and costumes. How is Rim Tim Tagi Dim a joke? It's about the real anxiety of becoming an independent adult and leaving home even if you love it there. Everyone knows you miss your pets the most.
Cha Cha Cha is about someone who has finished their working week and their outlet of fun is heading to the local nightclub. They are an introvert and can only become the confident, outgoing person they want to be with lots of alcohol.
They are more creative than another generic song about relationships or sex.
Tommy Cash had annoyed lots of Italians with his crude song that uses mispronounced Italian and stereotypes and he will probably have staging that involves oversized spaghetti and coffee cups. That is a joke.
Many Italians are in love with espresso machiato so I wouldn't be so quick to take offence on their behalf. I predict it will get no lower than 8 pts from Italy in the semi, with Albania and San Marino being the other countries in their top 3.How is Rim Tim Tagi Dim a joke? They have a gig of their own in Finland on the day of Amsterdam pre-party. They are confirmed for London pre-party, and they also briefly mentioned ”see you in Madrid” after their homecoming festivities in Finland, but that is yet to be officially confirmed. Are KAJ not going to be taking party in the pre-parties? Noticed they're absent from the Amsterdam Eurovision in Concert roster, and it seems odd to not have the odds-favourite there... It's maybe happened before, but can't remember.
Is Lordi considered a 'joke entry'? I often wonder whether it would win under current system. Would still win televote, and maybe jury would give it a bit of love too if it was seen as popular before the contest. I love it by the wayAmong all the entries in the category joke entry, that of KAJ is definitely in the more joking end.
