I've kinda seen the show yesterday, but I'm still watching it tonight.

*Turned the stream with English commentary on*

It’s very much an attitude of ‘how dare they do well?’ And much like it was the in thing for music fans to knock Coldplay, the in thing for Eurovision fans is to knock Sweden.

If apparently Eurofans just can't handle nations doing well, why are Ukraine or Italy not disliked in the same way? They are just as successful IMO. And do you truely think if KAJ win tonight, Eurofans won't cheer for them? Of course they would.

It's because of what Mainshow said, IMO. With Sweden, there is the issue of feeling like the juries always overrate them, to a point that is detrimental to the contest and overrides Fan opinion.

And I'm sorry, because Måns is a great performer, but "Revolution" is a generic, dated slog that I'd have zero issue believing was written by AI (and this is the worst judgement you can make over any form of art). I'm not even a fan in general of Italy or Ukraine, but I cannot see either Nation sending a song this bad. And especially not being a winning contender with that. And that is simply why people are bloody tired of Sweden.

That is of course not excusing the awful people that went as far as to send Loreen death threats - that is never okay (and Loreen seems genuinely lovely at that). But that is still a loud minority, and not people representative for the fandom in any way, or even the part generally fed up with Sweden.

12 years of watching Melodifestivalen once a year taught me enough Swedish to understand what they are talking about quite fine :D

John is amazing but gosh he can do much better songwise, overall I think it's an ok act which is a shame given how great he is as a singer, Too Late for Love and Anglavakt (sorry if I fucked the spelling) were much better

Song 1: John Lundvik - "Voice of the Silent"
John Lundvik represented Sweden with "Too Late For Love" at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, and after the correction to the jury result, finished 5th with, 334 points overall. He returned to Melodifestivalen in 2022 with "Änglavakt", and finished 8th in the Final. He is back this year with "Voice of the Silent". Whereas "Too Late For Love" was a gospel song, "Voice of the Silent" is a totally different style. The electronic sound, with a wobbly effect, provides the perfect introduction. Electronic sounds can be heard during the opening verse, which is sung quite softly. John sings the pre-chorus more powerfully, and a beat can be heard. He sings the chorus even more powerfully, and pitches high at times. Electronic sounds and drums can be heard in the chorus. I like the filler immediately after the first instance of the chorus. The second verse is sung more powerfully than the first, and has a beat. “Hear the voice, hear the voice of the silent”, sung by backing singers, twice over, serves as a bridge, and the song ends with a final instance of the chorus. Tonight, John performed on a predominantly dark stage. The centrepiece was the giant ball, which was behind him at the start, and he walked around it during the second verse. Early on there were flashes of light within the ball. Late in the song the ball was raised, and curved red / yellow lines could be seen on the background screen. White light beams were also used in the latter stages of the song. Altogether a powerful song; I much prefer this to "Too Late For Love".

Because to me Sweden has become the country equivalent of the smart kid at school. It’s easy to pick on them and fit in.

Certain fans don’t care how it comes across, they’re going to pick on Sweden regardless to me. Whether rightly or wrongly Ukraine will get a free pass from fans now and Italy is seen as cool (certainly from how I see them portrayed in the fandom) so Sweden is the option left to pick on.

At no point have I said Mans song is amazing so again don’t try and twist it into something where I’m sticking up for the song. I still think even if it’s poor it’s a lot better than much of the offering we’ve got confirmed for 2025 - that’s how poor a year it is.

Of course those who sent Loreen death threats (and there were even threats some were going to rape her - that’s how bad it was) are not representative of all fans, but those wishing ill on Mans etc seem louder than ever.

What I will say is that fans are not representative of the wider public though who don’t care how well Sweden has done before - they vote on the night in May for whatever they like. If the juries like it more, so be it.

To me, we need the juries.

Song 2: Dolly Style - "Yihaa"
A lively country-pop song, performed by the four-member girl group Dolly Style. The song has a beat from the start. The chorus is very powerful and catchy, and is sung in a bouncy manner. The chorus lines “Yihaa, Back on the horse” provide the perfect hook for this song. The section “Giddy up, giddy up … Come on everybody what you waiting for” twice over, provides the perfect follow-on to each instance of the chorus. Tonight, each member of the group wore a cowgirl outfit in their own colour. Images of horses, on their hind legs, at the two sides of the background screen, was just what this called for. There was a key change before the final instance of the chorus, which is what one would expect for a Eurovision song. Altogether it’s certainly a fun song, but it’s unlikely this will win tonight.

If Greczula's song stopped after 30 secs I'd like it a lot 'cause after that it turns into unbearable shit (he'd do great in ESC tho)

I WISH we were as "hated" as Sweden :)
Unlike Ukraine, Sweden has certain Eurofans that will stan them, literally, no matter what ;)
Certain Westerners hate us because of our results and attack our refugees, Ukrainians, broadcaster, country etc. Certain Spanish fans wished to every Ukrainian "I hope putin bombs their homes", also they posted missile emoji en masse in YT chats. Certain people from this forum wished me to die. Some wished me to catch AIDS. Other people from this forum layed crap at my country even in JESC sub-forum. Even our JESC participants are bombarded with the most ugly & degenerate hatred ie. wishing our children to die, our representative to be r*ped, our country to disappear, attacking their parents etc. The EBU had to use AI to clean those atrocious comments.
I don't even talk about demeaning our results and saying "pity votes" at everything we send. I wish all haters to experience the same thing. If they want to be at our place, I will gladly switch places :D
