It's review time!
I loved review made by Realest, and I was inspired to make mine, too, review and ranking. First of all, I really love all of the songs, but it is fun to make a rank.
#1:
"Behave"- I think it is his best made song untill now, when it comes to production, instrumental, lyrics, all combined together. The most complete one. Such a bop, and my early favorite from this album. Modern, but still different, unique from anything else that is out now.
#2:
"Dance You Off"- This one of my most listened tracks EVER, when I count my whole life. It is so catchy, and I love the late 80's vibe, when one of the best musical masterpieces were made. It gives me "Stayin' Alive", "Night Fever", "Just An Illusion" vibes, Bee Gees, Hall and Oates, Michael Jackson - basically, old music I love to listen to, on daily basis. I've listened it countless times. Bassline is such a masterpiece, and it really is! I haven't put it in the first place on the list, just because I miss the bridge that extension version of the song has, that makes song even better and more complete.
#3:
"I'll Be Fine Somehow"- One of the best emotional, sad songs I've heard in a while. It really gets to me, I feel it. Lyrics are especially beautiful in this one, and very deep and meaningful.
#4:
"So Good so Fine When You're Messing with My Mind"- Uptempo, sexy song, which automatically means it must be one of my favorites.
One of his best songs, too.
#5:
"Spotlights"- I love the way he told us his story here and especially one part, that I find myself in :"Yeah it's never been easy and I don't want it to be", because I always like to do something in harder way, instead of taking shortcut, like many people tend to do.
#6:
"No Sleep"-R&B track, I am amused by the creativity used in this one, "sleepy singing style" in the chorus, it really transmits the mood and theme of the song to its listener.
#7:
"Love Songs"- I love this one, interesting theme, reminds me of old, beautiful times when men were nice gentlemen and were writting love songs to the girl they love and admire. Chorus is always repeating in my head of this one, through the day.
#8:
"All I See Is You": I love disco vibes in this one, it is inpired by Hall&Oates music, too, but because it is produced by French DJ Kungs (
Kungs vs Cookin’ on 3 Burners - This Girl, one of the best EDM songs made recently, in my opinion), I expected something more explosive like "This Girl"
#9:
"I Wouldn't Know": I love it, but it is not high on this list, just because his older summer singles "One More Time" and "Do You Think About Me" are more my taste, I like them more. This is his single that is the most played on Swedish radio stations, though.
#10:
"Good Intentions"-I find istrumental very interesting in this one song, I love that it is uptempo.
#11:
"If This Bed Could Talk"-It is really beautiful, emotional, and sooo sad. I would recommend it for those people who love such emotional songs full of soul.
#12:
"Happiness": First reaction was "Whoa, what, is this even song or demo?! Or what is it about even?" But it is my grower, I really like that after album full of well produced, upbeat songs, he ended it with this. It is unique, different from anything here, and I love that it is here, because it is only guitar and his voice, his lyrics with the good message: "Whatever you do in your life, you should find happiness in it, if it makes you empty, it is not worth your time". I can't listen to this one without making picture in my head of him alone in studio, tired after long studio session, taking guitar, and singing those rhymes.
Overall, debut albums could be tricky ones, and could go even good or bad, could be experimental for that artist, but not this one! This one is one strong pop album, its mix of styles is well combined, it reminds me of story, when I put all songs together, and listen to it from 1st to 12th, really one of the best I've heard in this year.
