I felt overly embarrassed when I saw Amanda in Melodifestivalen, a feeling which soon went into small-angry grunts. I thought she blew the chances of we having a quality, interesting and entertaining participant in our very own ESC, a contest we couldn't win anyway. She was supposed to be the obvious number one this year. After this night, I didn't care to listen to it any more until now. The song isn't bad and she did try to do something unique with her performance. It's strange how subtle details in Melodifestivalen can determine a songs fate, depending on an appearance charisma somehow. She is out of tune and out of breathe some times, but nothing serious. With perhaps some days more rehearsals and a more distinct choreography, the outcome could have been very different. Ended up on place 7 out of 8. None of the 4 qualifiers of the heat were serious contenders to win Melodifestivalen, she was.

Song-wise I think "Dumb" is my favourite from this years MF.
I really hope she gets a new chance, maybe in 2014 already, with a better presentation, adn an equally great, or better, song.

Unfortunately it's not likely in my opinion. She has to prove herself and gain credibility now.
Let The Rain Fall - new single presented in Swedish radio.
Musikguiden P3: VÄRLDSPREMIÄR: Sprillans ny singel med Amanda Fondell!

I'm glad she did the premiere in Musikguiden P3, which is exactly the right move now.

Her Melodifestivalen heat was seriously trolled by Tommy Körberg IMO, who I think tricked the Melodifestivalen management. He and the others were quite regretful after the contest.

I have mixed feelings about this one. I'd forgotten how interesting the song was. It's a lot better than most of what was sent to the contest this year. I think vocally she only really falls about around the bridge of the song.. I do have a very weird, forgiving ear however:? Her voice is extremely marmite. I'm unsure even if I like it or not. She has a very affected voice which is off putting but singers like her can be exciting just because you don't know what the heck is going to come out of their mouth, good or bad. There were bits of both in that performance. It's a shame people didn't vote for the song though in this case. She deserved to advance.

Yes, my original memory of her performance was she put up a (pretty bad) theatrical show which desperate lacked credibility and meaning. Her fear prevented her from reaching out and connect to the audience. In retrospect, it was a bit unfair judgement on my part. She is actually a good singer, but is careful to have a personal expression. The new single Let The Rain Fall (see above) shows it pretty well.

extremely marmite
:D ?? what does it mean?

I had a listen to the new single. It might just be the style of music but I really wasn't fond of it. She can sing certainly for sure.. I found her voice really annoying in that song however. I think she'd be much more suited to rock-ish alternative songs than pure pop or dance.

I don't know if there is a Swedish version but Marmite is basically a very strong sandwich spread, famously known for being something you either love or hate:D After hearing Amanda's new song, unfortunately i'm edging towards dislike:( It's affected enough as it is when a native english speaker sings like she does. I want to like her but i'd probably find it very difficult. "Dumb" is a brilliant song though.

I didn't know Behrang Miri released a video.
I agree, I love Louise Hoffsten. She's a devoted blues singer and has unfortunately experienced a rather tragic life.

either love or hate - after "extensive" googling I figured you meant something like that with Marmite. :D
I think Amanda is playing around a lot with her voice and it's a pity she didn't turn out well in Melodifestivalen. Besides she's only 18.

Amanda did it! She's definitely back in the game with confidence. xcheerxcheer
I have to agree with RainyWoods about her vocal trix though. I usually don't like that sort of thing at all, but I thought it suited her somehow. I hope she'll sort it out to the best.

To see her performance click the image above and look for a link (can be restricted in time and country).

YOHIO was also there, well ... terrible. :(

In all fairness, I think the following should be mentioned as well. :) YOHIO says the tune I norrländska skogars dvala (In the slumber of Norrland's forests) is one of the first he wrote and shows a side of him he seldom can express nowadays - Swedish folk-music/classic influenced guitar playing. From the the SVT TV show Moraeus Med Mera 2013.

This is amazing!! He should do stuff like that more often. I am really impressed. If he ever will release an album with at least 50% music like this one, I would listen it :D

This is so perfect!! Their voices fit so well and it doesn't hurt that Robin is still as good looking as he was in Malmö

(Robin is just so attractive I can't deal! Are all Swedes gorgeous?!)
