WV 188 ENTRY

Men då säger Herren: fattig bonddräng, kom hit!

POOR FARMHAND
I am a poor farmhand, but I'm alive anyway
Days come and go, while I grind away
Harrow, sow and plow, muck, dig and carry
Walk behind my oxen, holler, whistle and swear

I am a poor farmhand and I chew my tobacco
And when Saturday comes I want to get a drink
Then when I get spirited, I want to tussle and fight
Lie with a girl is what I want to do as well, of course

Then Sunday comes and our priest wants me in church
But that is when I sleep the most
The priest can sleep all of Monday, but
For a poor farmhand the grinding starts again

So goes the whole week, every day and year
I walk with my scythe and I plow and sow
I guide my oxen and I pile my hay
Harrow, toil and slave and one day I shall die

Standing there, poor farmhand, before Heaven's gate
A little scared and sorry for the sins I committed
One shall not drink, lie with girls and fight
The Lord, God in Heaven is disappointed, of course

But then the Lord says: poor farmhand, come here!
I've seen your struggle and your neverending toil
Therefore, poor farmhand, you are welcome here
Therefore, poor farmhand, you will be near me

Oh, I, poor farmhand, stand so still before God
And then he dresses me in the whitest of garments
Now, poor farmhand, your work is done
Now, poor farmhand, now is your time to rest

Thank you so much for all the points last edition! xbow

Here's the entry for WV 122, our 120th to boot! From the musical Chess (by Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus and Tim Rice) comes this iconic piece. This is a true classic, and some have tried since then to replicate it (and not quite lived up to it), but Tommy Körberg is the original and for whom the song was intended:

"Anthem" - Tommy Körberg

Unfortunately the last entry flopped, but here's to hoping the next one does better!

The entry for WV 124 has already been selected. A song I've been meaning to send for quite a while, but have been waiting for a Kai-hosting (which I knew would come sooner or later). So here we are! xheat

Here's the entry for WV 124:

"Fanfar" - Staffan Hellstrand

FANFAR

FANFARE
This is a song, a flower
This is a greeting to the earnest
Those who don't chase after gold and glory
Those who see happiness in the things they hold dear
Those who can live one day at a time
Without silver tongues and bloody hands
Those who don't always search for the thrill in the night
Those who can live on merely air and water
This is a fanfare for those who truly have something left

This is a song, a flower
To those who are not so aimless
Those who never patrol through Gamla Stan
Or snort their dreams away at Karlaplan
Those who don't always look at those who have more
Those who birth and raise children and have them turn out decent
Those who don't want to be one of the ripples on the water
Who can live beneath the surface and still find it beautiful
This is a fanfare for those who truly have something left

This is a song, a flower
This is a greeting to the earnest
Those who can build and build and build
And rise with the sun and feel secure enough
Who don't peddle and deal in a blue frozen stream
Where every handshake is a weapon and every breath a lie
Who don't want to be one of the ripples on the water
Who can live beneath the surface and still find it beautiful
This is a fanfare for those who truly have something left

This is a fanfare for those who truly have something left
This is a fanfare for those who truly have something left

Hot totally-not-planned-impromptu '80s Cheesy Power Ballad Duet NF! xheat

I knew I wanted to send one of Tommy Nilsson's duets, but I simply couldn't decide which to go with first as I love them both equally. So I thought I'd let you guys decide! And don't worry, the non-winning song will definitely be sent in the future.

(If you don't like either of the songs, I ask you to please refrain from voting).

This NF is a mouse trap. The cheese is real and it's glorious.

That's it! No further voters since the previous post. The winner has been declared and the entry has been sent. :)

Thank you so much to everyone who voted, and also to those who gave feedback as well. xheart

Fun fact: There were only two points difference. Out of the 14 voters, only 6 voters preferred the winning song.

Ugh so sorry Anna, totally forgot to come back and vote on these. I'll be honest though, I liked both songs fairly equally, so not sure I would've even broken the 2 point deadlock xshrug

Best of luck ;)

Woah, Aigars' voting literally turned the whole ranking upside down. Such an impact
He told me he simply couldn't choose but still wanted to support the NF, and it was allowed to give the same points to both. Though, naturally it was good that most people didn't do that or else there would have been no winner.

More people preferred the Swedish song it seems. Point differential is just greater the other way around. Anti-Melfest backlash is to be blamed along with lack of taste and South Sudan.
