Long story short, after each edition we calculate the voting similarity between each player. We take into consideration your top 10 in the final.
The Pot system aims to have balanced semis where each song has theoretically the same chance to qualify. You can easily guess that if a semi is dominated by pop voters, a Ghibli movie score would have a harder time qualifying.
To nurture this balance, we create 6 groups of users who share significant voting similarities and divide them into each semi. The similarities of the last 10 editions are used to generate them. I won't go into details over the formulas, as I don't bother to look at it more deeply than I need to, but be aware that it takes a lot of time to prepare this data and create the graph, hence we're doing it every 3 editions.
Traditionally, A is more into Western pop, B into Eastern European and Asian pop, C is a mess but usually gathers the pop, indie/folk, and occasional ballad lovers, D leans on electronics and rock, E is more into ballads and ambient stuff (?) - this pot changed since the traditional members all left and F - would be classical music and old folk.

Another reminder: the style of your entry has close to no impact. You could send the entirety of Shakira's discography, if you vote for classical piano pieces you will be Pot F.

I’ve made a big statistics update including a “new” ranking

I put “new” in quotes because it’s a ranking I’ve been working on for around 10 months and now I've finally brought it to an end. It’s the “Average length” ranking that ranks the users by the average lengths or their songs they submitted. Some users here have already discovered it anyway so it doesn’t come as a surprise to many of you.

For a change this is obviously a ranking without “good” or “bad”, so nobody must feel offended or sad about spotting his or her name in the lower part of the table. One could actually rename the ranking “most annoying users” in consideration of the reactions songs use to get on LLs for being long

Do whatever you want with that ranking. Somebody suggested this statistics to me back then and some other users encouraged me and I was like “Challenge accepted!” unaware of what a hell of a time investment this would become. I thought about giving up a couple of times but at those points Ive already devoted too much time to that to just drop it.

Moreover I’ve updated:

- On Track ranking (which is interestingly led by two users without a Top 5 results which once again shows us how the statistics reward consistency rather than singular successes)

- Final percentage (no particular changes but Kai is in danger to fall below 80% for the first time since WV 58 if he doesn't get his shit together)

- Top 10 Percentage (Zeus takes the 2nd place with his impressive run of Top 10 results lately)

- Top 3 Percentage (not a lot to talk about)

- WV league (I finally overtook Trece)

- Medal table Users (some users joined the table, yay)

- Medal table countries/regions (finally I could enter an African gold medal)

Also there is a new rule for the percentage & average number based rankings:

So far I included only users who took part in at least 10 editions overall and who haven’t been away for more than 50 editions. From now on I include only users who took part in at least 10 editions overall and who haven’t been away for more than 30 editions.
So the rankings which are concerned now shrank from 80+ people to 72 people.

Btw, is there any chance to update the pots? There are countries/members that withdrew like and others that switched like that should have been instead.

PS: I think it would've been better if the member of each country/region was mentioned next to it, because sometimes switches happen and a player from another pot gets a country/region that is placed in the pot of the previous owner, it might cause a confusion.
