Claudia wasn't that bad though... she still got 39 points in arguably the strongest final ever. If she competed in the semis she would have probably NQ by a little, so she is as a "failure" as the other ones.

Well in my initial post I wrote „as bad as“ which was meant to be understood as „the same place as“ but maybe that was misleading.

I'm kinda worried for us ngl. Semi-final 1 is looking very strong and the voting being 100% televote is also not good (the dumbest idea ever). Altho, the last two semis we competed in were also the strongest of the two and we still did quite well with the televote. We also have some 'friends' voting like France, Switzerland, Germany, etc., which can only help.

I am not worried. Mimicat or Edmundo are pretty safe choices.

I think Cláudia Pascoal has the same chances as Mimicat has. In fact even more because I think her song is much easier to stage and the concept is just there already.
And using 2018 as an argument to that not being the case is completely dumb, because both entries have absolutely nothing to do with each other. They literally couldn't be more different.

There will be a lot of kind of white christmas tree lights for Edmundo performance.

Apparently, he won't be alone on stage (there's more people with him, I read). They'll also feature the lute ("alaúde") that we hear throughout the song.

I've listened to You Can't Win, Charlie Brown, I think I have my winner. I love Portugal when they send this type of calm song (I love Saudade saudade and O jardim and I like Amar pelos dois)

Oh I wasn't talking about your comment specifically, I think you make a pretty valid point actually when you talk about the other similar genres already on SF1. I still think Cláudia would have a solid chance though, because the appeal is a little bit different from something like Kaarija (who I love too)
But I've seen that analogy to 2018 before in this thread and around the internet and I think it really makes no sense.

I think that Portugal should send a ballad this year as well since it will stand out a lot in the semi. We only have the Netherlands.

We have pop-radio, Fado, metal, classics like Lara Li, traditional etc.... lots of diversity which is great

Lara Li can easily win the jury (I think it will surprise tonight), while Edmundo or Barbara Tinoco wins the televote.

Ivandro if he manages to connect with the viewer and manage to appeal to his fans to vote can fight in the televote, but your fans are very young, I predict it will happen like Calema a few years ago.

Bandua and Teresa must have a good score both in the jury and in the televote.

It will be a very interesting fight and I believe that there may be surprises...

Barbara Tinoco will bring a very theatre simulation staging. There will be dancers as well.
Edmundo does not have a proper staging (?).
Ivandro just borrowed Qami staging adapted to FdC staging.
Bandua are taking something really organic, really portuguese. There will be dancers with long skirts.
Ines Apenas will focus her act on the piano, circular camera cuts and there will be dancers as well.

Hope Edmundo does well. I do think his main strengths are his presence and charisma, so I'm not too bothered about simple staging. Anyway, I heard that he wouldn't be alone on stage, so I guess we just have to wait and see
