I think RTP managed to have one of the worst commentators ever, Ramon Galarza, who joined Helder Reis as a commentator. I didn't watch RTP's transmission but apparantly he critized almost every single song competing. He made fun of Bojana for being fat, said that Voltaj should have plastic sugery and said that Nina Sublatti was like a caged bird, because of the feathered outfit and the way she sings.
He also said that Estonia's song arrangement is very weak and that the song is very old-fashioned, and the he can't wait til saturday so Portugal can destroy that song
Seriously what a complete and utter lunatic. The backlash against him has been very big and hopefully RTP will not let him comment the 2nd semi-final and the final!

I rewatched the semi again on RTP and was completely shocked with the comments. What an idiot!!! Hope they get rid of him asap as people on the fb page were really disgusted by it all.

What did he mean by "Hope Estonia (btw, my favourite) reaches the Final so that WE can destroy it??? Who the hell is WE? The portuguese song, that will most likely stay in the semi? The portuguese public? The portuguese juri?

Gosh, that really made me wanna xpuke

I'm so mad about it, RTP just can't get anything right. If he will comment the shows on thursday and saturday, I will not watch it on RTP, I'll watch it on eurovision.tv's webcast.

Wasn't he involved in FdC? The musical taste of this person (Ramon) is the reflection of the quality of our national final! The comments about Estonia were disgusting! People are posting on RTP's facebook page about his comments and I saw a comment by RTP that thay are reading all the comments... So let's hope that he is gone next Thursday or that he behaves professionally!

I really really hope so. Either hope he is gone, or that RTP will tell him to shut up and speak objectively instead of insulting the contestants.

Yeah. I was ashamed to hear his comments and also felt for Helder... who was clearly trying to get things back on track. Anyway, with or without Ramon, i'll watch both the 2nd semi and the final online. They speak too much during the whole show and you end up missing most of it.

If it's just Helder I think it's not that bad. I hope and pray RTP has some common sense!

I think that RTP do not care enough about Eurovision to take it seriously. I would imagine them refusing to host if :pt: ever wins.

And that is why i watched semi 1 online... That's, as well, the reason we're stuck in semis or proud of only get to the final, not expecting something more as long as we're there. RTP is making that acceptable, and it shouldn't be.
We need fresh blood... new faces and new voices. People aware of what's trendy right now and not stuck in the 80's, with ancient taste and completely clueless about critics and whatsoever.

Every single personality related to eurovision from Portugal stays talking about the past and the big musics we had in the old days. Why? What's the point of keep presenting those same songs in every FC, for example? We know our history and we're proud of it... but we have to let that behind or else we'll be forever in this circle. We complain, the old school guys from RTP pretend to listen but do nothing to get things done properly because they think they are doing things right, they do not learn from former winners and they don't update their approach to Europe, they only care to upgrade de song itself but they completely put the staging and the visuals for 3rd ou 4th plan... so next year we'll stay complaining and they will stay pretending to care.

Portugal had technical issues during juri performance. Apparently, they were given the chance to go a second time... xshrug

I hope that second chance in front of the juries makes a positive difference for Portugal.

Very beautiful song, which has something special about it, one of my favourites this year. And Leonor herself is really adorable! :)

Portugal totally deserves to be in the final! Good luck! xcheer

I think it´s time to Portugal definitely withdraw ESC: 1º - even our big and strong history in music RTP don´t bet enough in this, 2º - Portugal just have one neighbor in the contest and this one normally don't gave big votes to Portugal, 3º - the country don´t have any support of a group like ex URSS or Balcans or North Europe, also we don't have any political issue that can help getting some votes, and finally this is a country with economic problemas and RTP is using money from portuguese people without any return. We know all about friendship, bridges bla, bla, bla but in fact in Portugal 99% of people don't care about this and don't see the contest, guess why? people know that never but never we will win this.I really understand the point of view of the fans but I am sorry this is a question of the portuguese people money and 99% don't what to spend a penny in this contest. Portugal need to withdraw definitely and for ever. thanks

If RTP doesn't want to invest in it, then yeah, they should withdraw. I'd be sad by it as an ESC fan though. As for the other arguments about lack of neighbours and so on... Sorry, i don't agree. There are a handful of countries that make it to the finals due to diaspora, regardless of the song. But if a song is good enough, it will get votes even if it is an island in the middle of nowhere! And we have multiple examples of that. We don't do well in Eurovision mainly due to a lack of vision and effort. Not lack of neighbours. Cheers!

Thanks for you replay but I really don´t agree with you...please give me examples of what you said: "...But if a song is good enough, it will get votes even if it is an island in the middle of nowhere..." Yes it can have votes but not votes enough to win if it is not support by diaspora and we have lots of examples!! In all history of ESC I really don't know 1 example of this, maybe in the lets 60´s yes but not in the lasts 10/15 years.thanks
