Why I organise National Finals and what do I include there?
Different kinds of songs, I do love some and can't bare others. However I want these to be 'mini-shows' with a diverse offer. I'm not a music expert and I don't intend to be such a thing. I like having fun and at the same time giving the chance to different voters to decide what song should represent
Some might say I should choose my favourite song, and I think this is not what the contest is about. It is a personal opinion, everyone's entitled to have other opinions and disagree with me. So, I see this contest as a way of showing what's popular in the music scene, whether I like the songs or not and at the same time accepting suggestions that I think could be popular and finally I include songs I simply like as well. When I say some songs are not good to me people who like them don't must be offended and I certainly don't try to humiliate their taste. It's actually quite the opposite, I give all different styles and give the voters the power to decide which one should represent my country in this contest. I wouldn't have them in my NFS if I didn't find any interest in them. And besides, it's my opinion only, it's not a universal fact and I certainly don't see my preferences as more worthy than others'. So please keep in mind the following ideas:
a) I really appreciate all the suggestions you give me. I see them as something good and necessary and not something to mock at.
b) I also appreciate all the support and having you voting in my NF. It's actually an honour.
c) Exactly because I don't see my preferences necessarily as being better than everyone else's I organise these National Finals with different kind of songs and give the voters the power of choice. I have quit voting, which also proves I don't want to influence the results, and I could have done it before.
d) Don't take offence at my jokes, I like joking, interracting with people and discussing ideas. Who knows me well in this forum has never heard from me the sentence ' my taste is better than yours', because it probably isn't, it's just personal and you love what you love, I love what I love.
e) I don't take offence if people don't like my taste, taste always differs, please don't ever think I try to understimate your favourite songs in the National Finals, if I give it a chance it's because whether I like it or not, I respect your taste and maybe it could prove me wrong in the end.
I've explained this because it is important that you keep the idea in mind that a song contest of this nature is IMO about showing what's going on in a country's music scene and not necessarily picking all the songs from my personal collection of songs I love for you to vote for. It might probably happen sometimes, others it won't. From the moment on a song wins, I support it and forget what I feel about it (but I will keep loving, liking or hating it, no matter what).
As a conclusion, I apologize if somehow it seemed that I understimate others' taste. That's not the case. And who am I to do such a thing, anyway? I'm very grateful for you participating, suggesting and voting in my NFS. But please don't dramatize if people don't like your favourite or even the song that will be representing your own country. That's the way it is, some love what we pick, others don't and we all have been supporting and criticizing and the same time.
So, a HUGE thanks to everybody for being part of the choice, whatever the outcome is
