Thank you ever so much King Mario. Tis a miracle to have found someone who has enjoyed every single song. Calvin came close at 8/9 but you win the prize.

I know exactly how you are feeling right now.

Just over an hour left if you'd like to vote in my selection. The last three voters have given us a leader after two songs were originally tied for first. This can still change though but would likely require 2+ voters as the lead is sort of comfy.

Thank you to Roman who is my 10th and still at this moment last person to vote, and thank you also for displaying such a magnificent gif upon this greenroom.

edit: Woah freaky, Daniel just voted as I posted thisxheat Thank you my friendxheart

As you can see here, our winning song ended with an incredibly healthy lead, so please don't worry those of you who showed interest in voting but didn't have the timexrose In fact, you probably only would have made my attempt to have a super close and tense NF even more of a failure. When I put this thing together I honestly thought that 7 or 8 of the songs here had a chance of taking victory. I was so deludedxheart At least the top 5 was close, besides the winning song.

I'm really excited about the choice made. The song received 12s from players that each couldn't be more different. It got a bunch of 10s as well.

I'm super duper excited to announced that you picked this spellbinding synthpop ballad as Pacific States song for WorldVision 67. Kristin Kontrol is the stage name of Californian indie rock artist Kristin Welchez, who also goes by the name of Dee Dee when with her band Dum Dum Girls. "Smoke Rings" is the closer for Kristin Kontrol's debut solo album, "X-Communicate". I was pretty much dumbfounded when I came across this performance a couple of weeks ago. It gave me a chill down my spine. The live version of this is ridiculously good. I really was floored by it the first time I watched it. Just the whole setting, the vibe, the vocals. Am totally smitten.

I blow smoke rings into my lovers eyes
It's a fantasy way for me to say goodbye
And as you sever me from my disguise
I wave and say see you around some day

See I don't need change
It just makes me blue
I don't need change
I just need to reacquaint myself with you

In spite of all the bullshit
Of these dark days
Got a cloud of difference
Got a gentleman of lace
In spite of all the pain that looms
In the night that blooms
What do you say
Is your baby ok

See I don't need change
It just makes me blue
I don't need change
I just need to reacquaint myself with you

Don't admit I remember
Every scene but it don't mean a thing
To the last flicker of this spark
We're gonna kid ourselves to re-stumble

I don't need, I don't need change
Change
Change
Change

Song Selection Results

This was closer than it looks at one point, with Joanna and Kristin on a tie about 8 voters in. I must admit it's kind of getting me excited seeing how diverse the "Smoke Rings" supporters are here. "Sapokanikan" for a long while gave it a good fight, but ultimately the song proved too polarizing. There seemed to be respect for Joanna's song, even from some of the lower voters, but it proved a difficult dish to swallow, and understandably so. Katy Goodman & Greta Morgan's awesome cover of the punk song "Sex Beat" is a wonderful surprise 3rd, overtaking icon Mr. Burns, thanks to Daniel's votes. Fer and Calvin had this one on 12, and it was Roman's 10. Still a dreadfully long way behind Kristin though. I really failed here at making a close NF. Xiu Xiu have gotta be the great shock and disappointment of this selection. I (and i'm sure others) assumed they were going to slay this thing. I thought they'd at least be right up there at the top fighting for the win, but gosh, they were second from last for pretty much the entire thing. Despite being told otherwise, I always had this feeling deep down that this melancholic ballad would be harder to sell than my other ones i've sent thus far. It's super languid and sad. Jamie Stewart's voice is very much an acquired taste. Lovers of this song though should be on the look out. I still plan to send this one day in the future. Crocodiles in 6th....... o.. k. I guess it might have been difficult to expect more here. I can reveal that "She Splits Me Up" is probably overall my favourite song I shared with you all here. You know I can't get enough of my gargeous garage rock treats. The more jangle, the more I xheat Happy to see high points for this one from Robert, Daniel, Roman and ShoeFlo. I know Calvin really likes it as well despite the 3. I'll be sending more of this kind of stuff soon, even if it's only going to have a very small audience. The Space Lady 7th!? I thought she had a chance of winning as well, I swear:lol: I knew that a bunch of you loved her from my Plug/Dub spam of her version of "Major Tom". Maybe I picked the wrong song? Second from last for Brandy...... Connor metldown in 3... 2...................... 1.... and last but not least we have our NF hot flop, it's Seth Bogart AKA FREAKING HUNX FROM HUNX AND HIS PUNX! Hardly any of you wanted to get lubed:(

A big thank you again to everyone that took part in my NF and I hope you're happy with the outcomexrose

EX-fucking-SCUSE me

WHERE IS BRANDY'S WIN??????

SECOND LAST??????

UGH whoever didn't give Brandy 12pts, sleep with one eye open. I'm coming to steal all your cakes, piggy banks, and Paula Abdul merchandise (that I already have!!!!!!)

................

In all seriousness though... xcryxcryxcry

This was an uber hot NF for me, and one of my least favourite songs has won :( This is probably the first Raint entry I don't like :( Best of luck though Raint, I hope that the support for this song continues (and that you send a super hot R&B hit next time to make up for all of my heartbreak)

Thank you to all the people who voted Kristin Kontrol through to the final, the nice comments and whatnotxheart I'm super excited to find out just how exactly she'll do.

Some of you might perhaps be interested in hearing some more of her music. The title track of her album "X-Communicate" is probably my next favourite Kristin song at the moment. It's a rather cool slice of succulent synth-pop.

Final 3rd with 201 points
2nd in Semi 2 with 89 points / Reju 4th with 81 points

I have to pinch myself. I have a new best scoring entry. Countess Luann has been dethroned. Make way for Quen Kristin Kontrol. I never thought it would happen. Not only did I achieve my best score but i've also joined the 200 club. I'm so happy. The best part of it was I found something at last that could truly transcend pots, picking up support from pretty much every corner. It was really exciting to witness the sheer variety of voters. From Pot A to Pot F. It really was crazy.

:1: :jp::nrwe:

And we cannot forget our Reju voters. 12 from Malta and Northeastern USA, and then 8 from Leinster which gave me a whopping 10 points from the OP vote. Thank you so, so muchxheart

Now onto the next edition. I've got just one little problem... just how do I follow on from this!? I don't know what to do:cry: Am I ready to fall down just yet or do I give it another go? My original plan for this next edition was to send a recently discovered female psychedelic rock artist, and I was leaning towards an incredibly beautiful (if a little difficult) folk song of hers. I'm starting to think differently now though, after just experiencing the rush of that final.

The options brightest in my head:

::mida

- I return to Mid-Atlantic and send right off the bat internally a hot piece of synthpop. Would be VERY different to Kristin. The song i've been wanting to share with you since the dawn of time is loud, explosive and there's a lot of tight outfits. Make no mistake, this would be my most "WTF has he sent" entry to date, just because it's so different to everything else.

What else would Mid-Atlantic bring?

- You'd likely get my band of the moment, The Lemon Twigs. Wondrous Todd Rundgren-esque psych rock. Maybe also think Beatles or Ariel Pink (as a dear friend was getting vibes of him).

- Of course, Mid-Atlantic is the land of KV, my idol, KURT FREAKING VILExheat Pretty sure you'll be subjected to a 6 song NF of his songs, where I proclaim him to be Jesus, and some of you join in. Then I send him to WorldVision and flop again and pretend i'm cool beans with itxheart

- The War On Drugs, but sweet boby Jebus give me a PQ for this one. I love this band but I have ONE song from them that's super deep and special to me.

- Todd Rundgren. Todd is godd.

- Some RNB.

- A rock icon. Can't really say more than that as I wouldn't want to spoil it.

- This region could also see Rufus Wainwright, Mac DeMarco, Porches, Blood Orange, Eartha Kitt, Amy Klein, Run-D.M.C., Meredith Monk, Big Thief, Grace Jones, Xenia Rubinos, Marianne Faithfull (YES, i've got a way of doing this but it's gonna be super dangerous), Billie Holiday, Aerosmith (think I can get away with this one from Mid-Atlantic), Antony part 2, Blonde Redhead, Psychic TV, Kevin Morby, The Babies.

The problem is there is still a ridiculous tonne of unfinished business from Pacific.

:paci:

- So many rock artists from here.. La Lenguas, Shannon and the Clams, Meatbodies, Hunx and his Punx, Crocodiles, NoBunny, King Tuff, Morgan Delt, The Growlers, Stevie Nicks.... actually, emphasis on Stevie Nicks there. I think she'd give me a pretty awesome and solid entry. Also can't forget Katy Goodman & Greta Morgan.

- I have a top secret childhood pop fave who I wanted to send.

- I never sent any of my outsider artists like The Space Lady, Holy Shit! or Daniel Johnston.

- There's a country music legend I wanted to send.

- The Xiu Xiu and Joanna Newsom fandom i'll be letting down by moving on yet again from this region with neither artist having been sent to WorldVision.

- Some grunge rock. I get real nostalgia punch for the late 90s stuff. I'd send one of the big ones.

- I want to send Elliott Smith again and it can be done from Pacific States as he lived out his final days here. Of course this will be a very big risk and make me incredibly nervous. He would have most likely been my PQ if I won this edition, and now the thought of just sending him again is running through my head, and it's a dangerous thought. I could very easily turn him into my own Justyna and send him about 76 times with my fingers crossed that one day he'll reach the final. It's a very honest goal I have with him. All I want to do is put right what happened before. I put too much heart into the process of sending him. I felt I let him down. Sending him the first time was easily my WV low-point.

- Lubed

Shall we look at Midwest as well, ok:cool:

::midw

- Dessa NF. This would 99.9999999897% happen. I chickened out the first time I was with Midwest. I was like "k so Dessa is in the final as part of Doomtree BYE *runs*". She's releasing new music at the moment, and an album should follow very soon.

- The Orwells. This one is 99.68490000009% likely to happen. I want some super fly garage skater punk rock at WorldVision damn it!

- Jay Reatard to give WorldVision a short, sharp shock of something wild and outrageous.

- Gentlemen of Doomtree NF. What it says on the tin. The rather on point gentlemen of my favourite hip hop collective have some rather delicious solo stuff. Sims and Mike Mictlan especially.

And umm yeah, other stuff as well like Josephine Foster, Jan Terri, Julee Cruise, Patty Waters, Lizzo, Miss Chiff, Shy Boys.

*looks at wall of text* Wow, i'm incredibly self indulgent..... don't mind mexshiftyxwhistle

That picture of Gags sporting the Kristin Kontrol look has made my night. In return I give you Kristin Kontrol channeling Gags channeling Kristin Kontrol.

That Mid-Atlantic list perhaps does look hottest, certainly has the most variety there and room for movement. I really want to return to Midwest but it would be incredibly clear cut.. Dessa, The Orwells 100% would be sent. The trouble is leaving behind so many fabulous artists from Pacificxcry1
