Omg I totally just found out my own entry is ineligible. Fornicate my successful homeostatic status as an organism (mfw I can't think of a synonym for life).

Well that's the thing. I had no idea if this be a he, a she, some form in between or outside of it. I was looking for info about the artist when it turned out that these people were apparently Brazilian (French actually) enough to place the title in front of the artist.

But the issue is solved, I'm now sending two men playing two women.

You thought Cydoni-Gibberia wouldn't show up here. You would be wrong.

Is the no translation rule a hard enforced one, because I've spent a good amount of time now struggling to find a song with my word in that I actually like, even a little bit. While i've found versions with the word in Spanish, Dutch, Greek etc that I do enjoy.

edit: I mean I have songs with it in English, if thats clear just i'd prefer to send something that is more representative of my taste tbh.

Yes the rule is enforced. Say your word is 'wildebeest' it won't do to send 'Johan Bakker - De Gladde Gnoe'. Word doesn't appear in the title. Could send 'Johan Bakker - De Gladde Gnoe (The Slippery Wildebeest)' or even 'De Gladde Gnoe | The Slippery Wildebeest | by Johan Bakker'. The rule as described was simply that the word has to be in the title so I took that to mean the title of the video in the part that actually describes the title of the song. I think that this is the best compromise. To add on this: when the exact word is used in the same spelling in a different language this is totally eligible. Not sure if this works in your case, can imagine it does, but for some others this totally applies.

In your specific case the fact that you believe you have found a Dutch song that would be eligible serves as proof for why a fairly strict stance has to be upheld as your word doesn't really translate into Dutch. I mean there are words that describe the general concept, but they translate back into English as something different so it's not actually the same word. Given that I can't be the one to make such judgments as I don't know all languages by heart I would argue it stands to reason that I must disallow such things.

Sucks that end result would be that you send something you're not really fond of, but I would say that the prize is the journey of discovery.

That's totally fine then, i'll keep looking and disgard any non-english/alternate spelling of my word song titles. Yes it does keep the same spelling for some languages, French and Italian for example. Some others you can tell what the word is but it's not spelt the same. I have a better idea of what I can send as a entry and what my limits are, thank you. :D

If some liberties are taken with changing some letters that is fine, as long as the word is still valid in English and the stem is clearly intact. Can turn nouns into adjectives, change tense of verbs etc, no issue. Let's be real, the words I've been giving out were all the most interesting (generally the hardest) in a list of random words so we are all suffering like crazy. Some people probably needed a dictionary for their word. Given that the difficulty is what it is and the translation rule is kind of forced on me I should show leniency in this matter.

Also, I check all words on viability. Everyone has a word that has more than enough songs to choose from. Might not be a video for it, but there are plenty of songs when you just search on YT for "{word} song". Would be a mood to check if the entire Oxford Dictionary has been turned into songs, it sure seems like it.

The word I got seems to be popular in Korea and Japan, since I found mostly songs from these countries with it in the title. The only Greek songs I found are children songs. There's another word that can be translated to this, but when I tried to find songs it was like looking for a needle in a haystack, because the same word means "live", and I found mostly live versions of songs of any title.
