We have the evil dots because we've had members in the past who would abuse the system of "confirm every two editions", doing only the bare minimum required to stay on the roster and purposely ignoring voting in the final when their own song wouldn't qualify.

The dots are meant to ensure some degree of active participation.

Sad to see Arva go as the first casualty of the dots, and always unfortunate to have someone leave the roster relatively soon after joining.

It's real sad Arva is out, however, with so many people on the WL eager to join (and in general also) it's important to be somewhat strict on it, it's not fair to allow spaces be kept up by those who are half in and out while other people who want to take part fully can't do that.

Yeah, what @Fearnavigatr said. I'm sad to see Arva go, but if I'm completely honest I knew this would happen eventually with their voting record, and I think the rule is working correctly here.

EDIT: Just noticed Illumia is off the WL now too

Absolutely gutted to see Arva go, but it was clear that with Mrvn often forgeting to vote and so many WL members so keen to be a part of the main contest, this is the right way for the evil dots to work.

I can't remember the exact reasons that evil dots are dished out again

They are given to everyone (on the roster) who fails to vote in the final, regardless of qualification or participation. The only exception being those that asked for a break, which means you still get a dot for failing to vote while also failing to confirm an entry. Three dots and you're out.

Thanks Anna, that makes perfect sense. As a side note @berlyda I checked the rules thread on the forum and couldn't see any mention of evil dots in the main rules post, just the links further down to the evil dots discussion and polls. Am I just tired and missing the relevant section? (Highly possible in my current state )

That's probably because they're not called evil dots in the rules. The dots are just a convenient way of keeping track of how many finals someone has missed. Anyway, it's the "failure to vote in three consecutive finals" part of Rule 2.7.

I don't think that was introduced in the end. The rule is 3 consecutive finals and they are off the roster, so all "evil dots" would be removed as soon as they vote again (so long as they don't reach 3 consecutive missed finals).

It's already been answered in the two posts above me, so I'll just reiterate what they said, in that as soon as you vote in a final, your dots will be removed. The next dot you earn for failing to vote will then be from a clean slate so to speak.

I believe this community has been quite nice to you when you scolded some members for expressing their own thoughts and your excuse was some insults you allegedly got through PMs which you may have read it differently (since you claim yourself that you are a resentful guy, you know), and that had nothing to do with the members you scolded, yet you still go over this when it is the least relevant, and I think you are being unfair to the NSC community in general.

You may listen to what some guy who observes thinks about it, or you may go and scold me too, it is your decision.

I know that I was one of the people that was a bit "concerned" when it came to your announcement about having such a long deadline, but I did actually apologize about it, since it wasn't my intention to criticize you or anyone else for that matter, only a way for me to think a bit loudly over it. So I don't understand why you bring this up again, since I thought it was done and dusted. People must be fine with expressing opinion or thoughts about things and sometimes it happens that we put things the wrong way, sometimes because of a language barrier, sometimes because we can missinterpret things because of our state of minds. I have never said anything of a change in rules about this and even if I did, I don't have a proper suggestion for it either, so that would be completly pointless. After all, you did a great job hosting your edition in the end and should really take that to heart that many people enjoyed it. Try to focus on the positive things, instead of the few negative ones, which of course is unacceptable and I hope that you won't recieve anymore negative messages via PM.
