Gothminister with superb voice and another banger, but again the hopeless, near comical staging.

Really wish he could stay within bounds in the final. No doll house, no fair ground rubber head dress, no dancers wiggling out of pink fluff and no cringe choreography, but something serious and adult to fit the song.

(and also head mic to avoid the shaking hand)

Been listening to Eli Kristin Hanssveen - Touch of Venus which is really good and superbly sung with a good voice, but no surprise as she's a professional soprano. Unfortunately the lyrics is the 'woman good, men bad' tripe that is well past its sell-by date. (imagine a guy singing touch of mars and how you made his skin crawl)

KEiiNO has knocked out another top song wih Damdiggida, but not sure it's better than Touch of Venus. What do you think?

For me it's between these two, but as we all know, Norwegians will vote for the complete unexpected so likely neither will make it.

Either that or people have finally realized they made a mistake not sending KEiiNO before and give it sympathy votes now. Who knows.

I really wasn't feeling this selection much when the songs were revealed. Margaret disappointed me and Keiino irritated me this time unfortunately, but...

I keep going back to watch the live performance of Oblivion. I don't know what it is but it just becomes so infectious on stage. The synths are scrumptious on the track, especially during the chorus (the part of the song I admittedly wasn't fond of when listening to the studio version). It honestly feels great to see Margaret back again. I've noticed negative critiques on the staging, more so the outfits but it's all working for me. Work that office chic.

I also loved the We Come Alive performance. The staging is such a unique concept. It adds some genuine shivers to a campy, goth pop number. The song is catchier than it has any right to be and I'm not disengaged for a second watching the creepiness all unfold on stage.

I can't say I'm too much of a fan of Eya though unfortunately. The folk mixed with the light Cyprus 2022-esque pop just doesn't work well here (feels a bit cheap), but it's pleasant enough, I guess. I don't hate it. Just find it bland.

Margaret Berger - Oblivion (9/10) really close to a 10
Gothminister - We Come Alive (8/10)
Ingrid Jasmin - Eya (5/10)

Just a week ago, I didn't think I was going to say this, but it seems Norway is better than Finland this year. Not quite as modern, but they try to take the 'Melodi' in 'Melodi Grand Prix' seriously, whereas the UMK seems to focus more on the style of music than on good hooks.

Touch of Venus prayer circle. The odds are absolutely against Eli Kristin, but Skrellex last year was also not on people's radar until the live performance. Enough camp could push it ahead /delusion

I know that the odds are not in my favor this ESC NF season, my I really keep my fingers crossed for "My AI" to not advance to the final tonight (otherwise, I think it got a chance to win in Norway).

I agree! "My AI" is the worst song of this year's NF season, imo. I really really loathe it.

Prediction for tonight - much harder to decide this time, but let's give it a go... I'm ready to be completely wrong with the bottom five, bit I'm just not seeing any outcome that doesn't have Super Rob & Erika advancing.

Safe:
Super Rob, Erika Norwich - My AI

Most likely maybes:

Gåte - Ulveham
Mileo - You're Mine

Least likely maybes:
Eli Kristin - Touch Of Venus
Farida - Heartache

Probably out:
Dag Erik Oksvold and Anne Fagermo - Judge Tenderly Of Me

Oh no!!!! I absolutely adore "Judge Tenderly Of Me" - It's not my favourite tonight (Gate all the way!) but it's part of my personal Top 3 or 4 in this NF.

I honestly think it has some chance to qualify.

You're Mine and MY AI will steal votes from each other.

Judge Tenderly Of Me will appeal to anyone that hasn't really enjoyed many other MGP songs this far, so yeah - it definitely has a chance as I know the general feeling of being underwhelmed is strong with MGP 24.

"The general public is underwhelmed by MGP this year"?

I think they got many potential Top 10 in May entries Oo

Pretty weak start from Farida - songs not bad but I didn't like the staging at all
