I think it being before Sweden will be to its advantage. What is Sweden other than a fancy background?

Well, it's obviously much more, but anyway, that fancy background is a really memorable one and gets a lot of attention, which works against the previous performer, in this case Norway.

There are plenty of uptempo (better) songs coming after Sweden though... Georgia for instance will be far more memorable to the viewer by the time of voting than Sweden. But Norway is stand-alone amongst the ballads.

A fantastic song. And that's coming from someone who is gutted that my 2 favourites are next to each. Norway will suffer for this badly.

Fantastic song? What's fantastic about it?

It's not ideal being next to Sweden, but coming before it and coming before a break is good in my mind. If there is any justice then Morland & Debrah would win on Saturday, because no one has even come close to their performance, and I dont think anyone will.

I actually agree that they deserve to win, but now I think the draw has killed them.

What's fantastic about Sweden? The chorus. That's what important, and they have nailed it. Besides, it didn't get to this position by being mediocre. It annihilated everything in MF and has been favourite to win ESC since then. The song has pedigree.

Well I hope not.

And are you honestly telling me that if Heroes had none of that lighting going on everyone would be bending over for it? Because I dont believe that for a second... it needs all that to make it seem good. It is just an average run-of-the-mill dance track that we've heard a million times before. I would hate for something so ordinary to triumph over something distinctive and classy like Norway's entry.

The song on its own I believe is still very good, but Eurovision is about the total package. Sweden has that on a level no other entry has. Visually Norway is a let-down from what It could have been.

But is it the whole package when the song wouldnt be noticeable without the lighting?

Anyway, less is more imo. I remember 2009 when Yohanna shot to runner-up spot from performing in 7th position right before Sakis Rouvas with his giant box and fireworks.

Yes. Everything matter and must be put together to form a cohesive roll. Sweden have had this down for months.

2009 was a weird year because of Ryback winning by such a margin, it meant second was far more open than most years. I think Mans will win fairly comfortably, but he won't be breaking any records. It'll be harder to get in the top 5, and I fear Norway will forgotten by many as soon as Sweden has performed.

Obviously, I hope I'm dead wrong on this. A straight battle for victory between Norway and Sweden would be perfect for me.

how cute is that? I hate the runnin order. Austria can't do anything right. Norway and Sweden will take out each other. That's only one of many bad things.

Absolutely true. When you strip the show away the song really is nothing special at all.
Hopefully though people won't vote for it just because of how great the show is. My casual viewer friends that watched the show with me all agreed that the song was good, but not good enough to win, and hopefully that will be the reaction of most people next saturday's night.

They have had lots of advice and comments from people about the need to pay more attention to the visual look of the song and they have chosen to ignore it. Lots of people think the white outfits do not suit the mood of the song. And then there is that tricky 15/20 secs instrumental on 2 mins in when they are just walking around the stage waiting for the amazing release of the last 40 secs. It's their call and their song, but like many here, I feel it's a question of "what could have been" with sharper whole package. I think it'll be around 6th/7th.....perfectly respectable.

I really am beginning to loathe "Heroes"....I just feel manipulated by its gimmickry and gadgets. It is vacuous and lacks soul.

I never liked Heroes as a song. And really I've always hated that 'aren't crap amateur stick people animation/comics cool' style anyway, it just champions mediocrity in graphics.

Monster sounded ok, but didn't have the feel of a contender. Hope it finishes above Sweden.

I really liked this! Still think that they could have made the song even better though.

I think that since this is the only quality ballad this year , it doesnt matter that Norway start as number 9 in the final , before Sweden. As I understand there is a small break between them so the viewers have some time to digest the song . And as we all know , A Monster Like Me takes some time to fully enjoy, personally I had to listen to it 4-5 times before I was a fan . Now I can't have enough of it. Top 10 for sure , but hope for top 5.

Elegance and simplicity combined here. Best performance yesterday along with Latvia's. Thanks, Norway! xlove
