There are times when I remember back
Wish to hug
The child about to crack
I’ll tell him: wait you won’t be long
Trust your heart and just stay strong

‘Cause baby they all tried to break us
Not knowing it’s what makes us
This is how we found our way
Now here I stand
There’s no pretend
My walls are down, my heart’s in your hand
Unchain my wings
And the oceans of tears will fade to black
With the song of my years ooooh-ooooh-ooooh

They all tried to break us (tried to break)
Not knowing it’s what makes us (they don’t know)
This is how we found our way (this is how we found our way)
(Here I stand)
My walls are down, my heart’s in your hand
(They all tried to break us
Not knowing it’s what makes us
This is how we found our way)

There are times when I remember back
And all I do is smile
All for you

(They all tried to break us
Not knowing it’s what makes us
And this is how we found our way)

I am honestly really disappointed, and to be fair I was hoping they would be improving their game from last year as I liked his previous attempt pretty much but this 🤷‍♂️ just like any other song with spiritual touch this is going to finish very low in my personal ranking. I know it is a 10 seconds short snippet only but it is clear that whole thing is not going to be any similar to "You". I am sick of these "spread the message" things, may we move on please. Sorry 🇲🇰.

yeah I listened to a small part of it and didn't like. Quite cringy.. but we do need another NQ in semi 1 so it's fine. Vasil just isn't an interesting artist to me and it still seems he still looking for his artistry.

Vasil is by far the biggest downgrade for me from all 2020 acts. :cautious:
He's giving me exactly what i feared last year, and i was pleasantly surprised when "You" was released. This is male version of "Proud" xhunter

Tumblr, mostly.
So it leaked on Spotify NZ.

I'm halfway through and i HAAAATE this wretched The Greatest Showman monstruosity. Songs like that are my kryptonite outside of Eurovision, and they rarely make it in. Now one of them has. IS NOTHING SACRED IN THIS WORLD????

For those fortunate enough to not hear the leak: NoMaco ordered a Boy Proud and they got Thin Mother instead X___X

Edit: A fucking :1: in the poll SIMPLY because it's not a literal, actual war crime. But the people who wrote this should be kept away from music with chinese finger traps.

It sounds like something from a musical........ and I don't like musicals

It's super dramatic though and if he pulls it off live, could be quite a jury magnet, especially considering that Vasil's semi is severely lacking ballads (just this and Ana's Amen so far). First half of the song is actually quite beautiful (not my style admittedly yet it feels sincere, perhaps seeing at the man wrote it himself) but then it gets incredibly extra. I don't hate it but I'm sad as Vasil is my first big returning favourite casualty of 2021. I could maybe warm to this a bit over time, and I feel that it certainly does have its charms but it's just too hammy for my tastes (partly why I haven't been able to get into Gjon's Tears). His voice also reminds me a bit of Anri Jokhadze in parts which is....... yeah. I was really hoping Vasil would come back with something more inspired by the singles he's been putting out. An ethno-bop would have been just great. I still wish Macedonia all the best, and you'll probably fall in the upper end of my ranking at least.

:6: points for now.

Very musical theatre. Nothing wrong with that but just didn't quite land for me. And the gospel choir feels a bit thrown in for the sake of it.
If anyone wants to listen to it you can find it easily on YouTube.

:0: a big fat no.

I hate musicals and this song sounds like an over-the-top, artificial, generic try-hard tribute to long forgotten musical song.

His voice can't shine on this song, either. It's exhausting to listen to his long and high notes. The gospel choir can't save it either. I hate it. Almost couldn't make it till the end.

It's too much cheese for me. Worst North Macedonian entry ever.

Well, Vasil in that case. It's his song. He's the sole songwriter of the track. A panel of Macedonian TV music professionals apparently thought it was the best option.

Seriously, my ears are bleeding. The arrangement sounds so empty as well. They tried to make it dreamy and such but as a listener you feel like being trapped inside King's The Mist and you can't get out and you don't know where to go.
It's just a pile of shit and they tried to place everything inside to lick the juries' asses without focussing on delivering a tune eith a clear structure.

Oh dear, I am not a big fan of musical numbers, especially not with such songs like "Here I Stand".
I am sure he is going to perform well, but nope, it's not doing anything for me and I don't think I will want to listen to it again.
His last year's effort is much better. And the one he released before this (ie. SudBina) should have been his this year's entry, at least that one is more interesting with the ethnic elements.
I am giving it a :2: once the poll is up.

I would like this a lot more if it weren't for the backing vocals, they sound really autotuned and unnatural? I think that this could still be incredibly impactful with some killer staging though. Grandmas will love this song and it helps that it's only really him and Ana (so far) in the same boat.
