Since today is my birthday
I thought: let's find out what my MP3 player wants me to listen to on this occasion.
May the Lord shelter me... I'm scared!
1.
Salvatore Adamo & Stanislas - "Pauvre Verlaine"
2.
Nobuo Uematsu - "The Nightmare's Beginning"
3.
Maya Sar - "Korake Ti Znam"
4.
Madonna & Justin Timberlake - "Dance 2night"
5.
Mylène Farmer - "Appelle Mon Numéro"
6.
Roch Voisine - "And I Love You So"
7.
Lana Del Rey - "Blue Velvet"
8.
Walt Disney - "Portrail Hall 2"
9.
Henry Purcell - "Celebrate This Festival"
10.
Elsa Lunghini - "Du Désordre"
Past the slight disappointment of seeing several artists of my last shuffle reappear, I find this selection quite satisfactory: this isn't very festive per se, but Madonna and Purcell are rather apropos here. Farmer's song is also playful and lighthearted, so it works. My MP3 didn't try to play me
The rest is more melancholic/romantic than anything, but that's what I intrinsically am. I can't deny it
Special mention to "The Nightmare's Beginning", an instrumental piece from the soundtrack of Final Fantasy VII: a legendary video game I grew up with. Both the story and music are evergreen and so full of memories for me that I'm happy it made the list. Also, the Walt Disney track is actually a part of the official soundtrack of my favourite ride in Disneyland Paris: Phantom Manor. The darkness and grandiloquence of this orchestral piece speaks to me as if the essence of my soul was turned into music. It's in moments like that that I really realise music is magic.
