Similiar thing happend to Greta&Jonsi who were smilling too, but in dramatic song and looked even more weird.

It reminded me of the little shrug and gormless expression thing that Alexander Rybak used to do in his performance of Fairytale

I was very happy for this one qualifying, it's by far the most positive song this year.

Our commendator said spontaneously after the performance with a tone of voice you use when you think a child is very cute: "Ti glyko tragoudi!!!!" (How sweet song!!!!) and I think most people thought the same that's why it qualified. Good luck in the final!

And another reason: Malta qualifying (and for 2 years in a row) proves that with the right song, anyone can qualify. Malta has no neighbors or diaspora. But it sends songs with appealing (whether people here like them or not).
