Extraordinary. Best performance of the night. It ended up overshadowing Israel and Czech. Had me and my brother in tears. I don't know if it can win, but it's on for Lithuania's best ever result, and I think it probably won the jury vote last night.

This is the biggest grower of the year for me. How could I not be touched by this the first time I heard it? It's SO beautiful, I wouldn't be surprised if it got Lithuania's best ever placing on saturday.

She did a good job with this entry except for the shakyness in the end, but bookies are really delusional in the betting, I mean 5th!? It's an ok ballad, but I don't see this in the top. 5, not even in the top. 10 xshrug I think the fact that UK, Ireland, Belarus, Estonia and Iceland were in the same semi helped, Lithuania could capitalize on diaspora votes and neighbor votes and wouldn't have to "share" those diaspora votes with Poland in this semi. Don't get me wrong, I think she did good and deserved to qualify, but I think the bookies are overbetting this one, but we will see on Saturday.

Iceland and Estonia dont have lithuanian Diaspora and belarus only very small (Donny Montell was 11th in the belarussian TV, which is below his average). But she obviously won the UK and IE Televoting. But she is 4th at ESC-Tracker, has the 3rd biggest YT-Clicks from the Qualifiers and at Facebook she got 26K Likes(!!) for her Video, Israel was second with 8K. Im pretty sure, she will be in the TV-Top10.

I think Iceland is a similar case as Ireland no? Not the same amounts of course, but I think after Poles, Lithuanians are the biggest foreign group but I could be wrong.

When I mentioned Belarus I didn't refer to diaspora, rather neighbor countries. These are two countries that not just share borders, but also a lot of history together, so they are their own little bloc at times.

Some good points. But I have to correct you a little bit. Estonia, Belarus and Iceland don't really have a Lithuanian diaspora. UK/Ireland for sure, but in recent years they don't seem to be very active in Eurovision, often resulting in just a few or no points, unless the song is above average. :)

Edit: just saw your clarification regarding Belarus. Lithuania/Latvia are much tighter because we share our ancestry and similar languages, whereas Belarus is a slavic country that's very close with Russia, and so historically it doesn't really evoke a lot of 'neighbourly' feelings to us. But if they send a good song, we will vote for it :)

I did write diaspora AND neighbor (bloc) votes though ;)

As for Iceland, maybe I was wrong, I thought the situation was a bit similar as with Ireland where Poles are largest immigration group followed by Lithuanians, but maybe I'm wrong. Even if it would be the case on Iceland too, the amount of people would still be significant too small to have an impact I guess in the same way Poles have on the Icelandic televotes, if not for some reason Poles decided to support Lithuania in this semi (doubt it though, just an idea).

Well, that's not true. Lithuania got 1st place in UK's televoting in 2015 (both semi and final) and 2016 (semi and final). Lithuanians are so much more active than you think I guess.

I sam so happy for Ieva, this is one of my favourite and it was from the very first listening, not now when she's getting better in odds.

Also, regarding the UK diasporas, I've pulled some stats:

Polish 800k+
Irish 400k+
German 300k+
Romanian 200k+
Italian 150k+
French 150k+
Lithuanian 150k+
Portuguese 150k+
Australian 125k+
Spanish 125k+
Latvian 100k+
Slovakian 85k+
Turkish 70k+
Others between 25k-70k (Dutch, Bulgarian, Cyprian, Swedish, Greek, Czech, Russian, Belgian, Danish)

So aside from the Polish, it's pretty much fair game and these countries can easily affect the voting (and probably did) just as much as Lithuanians :) I mean, when UK gives Germany 12 or 10 points, you just think it's because they liked the song, where in actuality it could easily be the diaspora votes. I just think Eastern Europeans have this stereotype against them of voting for their own (which is true), but we fail to think that the Western countries could be doing the same thing.

It got huge amounts of fan love and is charting very well for a song of it's nature. I think maybe you are "delusional" to it's chances? A song doesn't surge from 26th to 5th place in a matter of hours for no reason. I'm assuming it won the jury vote, and possibly won the semi as a whole if it came top 3 in the televote.

It feels so weird to remember how everyone was like "LOL Lithuania is surrounded by favourites. Gurl you dead!" when the running order came out
She really stood out among all those crazy acts.

I'm still surprised both her and Ryan qualified. While they compete in the same "stripped down" category musically, they are complete opposites to me: "When We're Old" is giving the right balance of sweetness and credibility to convey emotions, whereas "Together" just comes across as conventional boring, it's neither moving nor atmospheric.

I was sure it would do well. If Germany could have voted in Semi 1 I would have voted for her for sure! I'm happy that many voters seem to see the same beautiful fragile girl who sings with so much passion inside but quiet on the outside as I do. It's mesmerising. And it has that "aaaawwww"-factor. Who doesn't want to have a love to stay with until the end of life? But it's not kitsch or anything, it comes across as just sincere.

Also true about Ireland!

Really cute song, her vocals sounded a bit forced at some point, like she was anxious or heavily breathing.
