Maybe if you could award the lower points to multiple countries (perhaps 3 countries could get 1 point, 2 could get two points) it could mean more spread-out points? So it would be 12, 10, 8-3, 2, 2, 1, 1, 1

An example scoreboard could be like
Latvia 12
Russia 10
Spain 8
Estonia 7
Lithuania 6
Sweden 5
Norway 4
Australia 3
Italy 2
Belgium 2
Slovenia 1
Germany 1
UK 1

This would mean a Top 13 instead of a Top 10? Or maybe you could add a few extras to the 3/4 points, but you get the drift

I think there should be at least 8 jury members and a more diversified selection of appropriate members in some countries! The german jury of 2014 is one of many negative examples: Sido had Georgia (!!??) on 1st place on his list for the semi-final and Austria was somewhere at the end because he knew Conchita from his former job as casting show juror and he didn't like her at all!

I also think there should be more defined categories for ranking the acts and awarding points...

there are so many possibilities. i think the system really should be reformed in some way. maybe there could be a voting in two stages like it is handled in many national finals or casting shows. the juries could decide on the top ten and then the televoters choose among them.
in my opionion the voting should be really new and very different to the old system. but the twelve points have to remain of course. esc without douze points is just not possible.

Just because I have to much free time, I decided to find out how last years results in Vienna would have been with the voting system used in 1963 (5,4,3,2 and 1) and it became this:

1. :se: 136
2. :ru: 102
3. :it: 95
4. :be: 52
5. :au: 48
6. :lv: 37
7. :ee: 16
8. :az: 15
9. 13
10. :me: 13
11. :al: 11
12. :rs: 10
13. :il: 9
14. :ge: 9
15. :gr: 7
16. :am: 6
17. :lt: 5
18. :ro: 5
19. :sl: 4
20. :cy: 4
21. :hu: 3
22. :fr: 0
23. :uk: 0
24. :at: 0
25. :de: 0
26. :pl: 0
27. :es: 0

The results are very interesting (sine only every countries top 5 get´s Points)
