NO, NO and NO!! xgaah

I don't need to use my fists
I'll knock you a new face
With these words that hit so strong
Watch me walk over to you
If I could change your mind
I wouldn't bother
God help you.

I really liked Nikki Kavanagh, so I'm happy she's competing.

Although I hope she's not going to be the only good artist in the NF. Just once I'd like to not have my favourites decided by process of elimination.

(They say her song is a Glenda/Jesse-J hybrid, who's Glenda?)

The article says they're going to be revealed on Monday the 8th Feb, but its the 8th today and its Sunday? :p Is it today or tomorrow?

I have no clue, I just copied the link here and didn't notice that

I think it's gonna be tomorrow, but anyway if it's today we're on the scheduled time, so we will know soon

I don't get how RTÉ can claim that it's a "new" format when it's essentially the same. Anyone can submit the songs to RTÉ instead of the mentors and then 5 acts end up on the Late Late. It just means that there's a different panel of people acting as preliminary judges, and we don't have to listen to the five mentors talk up their acts. What a copout.

And the worst thing about it: the NF is still part of a talk show!

I wish Ireland would have developed the "Talk Show" NF into a standard similar to France last year. Nothing beats their results show. xlove Ireland could learn from the winner being announce in the final moments of the closing credits. That's the way to do the Talk Show NF.

I totally agree! Imelda May had a TV show about music, not unlike Les Chansons D'Abord, a year or two ago, and I think RTÉ introduced another music talkshow last autumn, why they couldn't tie in our NF with that is beyond me!

I don't know why we don't just do it in the Helix. It would be so easy.

Exactly! They can hire out the o2 for The Hit and they had outside broadcasts of The Panel when it was on from all over the country. TV3 can broadcast Vincent Browne from a hotel in every constituency in the country, but RTÉ can't use the Helix for one night of the year??

Dunno if this has been posted but the 5 national finalists are:

- Nikki Kavanagh "Memories"

- Kat Mohan "Anybody Got A Shoulder"

- Alex Saint "She's So Fine"

- Erika Selin "Break Me Up"

- Molly Sterling "Playing With Numbers"

None of those sound too cringeworthy so far. Good job Ireland :')
