I'm surprised that everyone are surprised that HE sang it well, go back to the national selection clip, the main problem was always the backing singers (which they must have changed?) and the bad sound and video quality of the NS... I never think Ryan himself was a big problem here.

He himself sounded bad to me back then, as well as in other live videos of him I'd seen. He even gave me the impression of a random person in a karaoke bar. But last night he was very good.

Btw, the song reminds me a bit of this song:
(Not the melody itself, but the structure and the style)

I have just watched the performance. It sounded impressively good. Now I am startin' to think that Ireland might surprise us in the final. I also like the idea with the drums on stage.

Actually, Ireland is one of the countries qualified that I currently root for, I actually prefer this one over the major favorite Denmark...

I honestly could not stand it the first (and until today only) time I heard it. This dance genre normally does nothing to me so it's still not among my very favourites but I agree that a decent finish in the final would be deserved. Denmark should be a hard flopping fanwank (in a perfect world).

Oh, I actually liked this one the first time I heard it... the drums and verses/bridges are what makes it interesting... I don't care much about the chorus but I actually like the rest of the song.

Denmark's entry is alright but leaves me kinda cold though.

I think Denmark does deserve to win, seeing how nothing really exciting is there to compete with it. But I'm hoping the voting will be entertaining instead of being a snooze-fest à la 2009 or 2012.

I don't see Ireland as a serious contender, although it's one of my favourites.

My favourite part of the song is dancers. Wait... there is singing part?
For me undeserved qualification, sorry

Good luck Ireland! This is one of my favs of the entries in the final and I wouldn't have anything against this winning in the end (although I don't think it's going to happen). Strong and uplifting, catchy and the most contemporary sounding song in the final. It has been underrated since the get-go, and the starting number isn't really that good (I know it's the last one out, but it's a bit too late into the show).

Nevertheless, I cross my fingers for atleast an Irish top. 10 ! My bet is that atleast Sweden will reward it some pretty decent points.

It deserved better for sure, but I think the starting-position wasn't that good, somehow I also don't think the juries liked it and it just got lost on the evening :(

Maybe RTE will take it seriously next year.

Doubt it, back to the late late show again next year. With a selection of judges oohing and ahhing at songs that will at best get 8th in the semi and then flop in the final. "It's a winner" they'll cry....blissfully unaware of the carnage that will unfold come Eurovision. I can see it already.

As much as I liked Only Love Survives, I think we're hugely lacking in the creativity department. I wish we would send electropop or something sweet and sentimental that wasn't a dreery love ballad.

Heck I'd take some heavy metal just to shake things up a bit.
