Do you believe that?

If something like that happens, that'd be the greatest odd failure of all time. (They actually dropped in the odds after having a great rehearsal and an all around great response, which is just weird af to me.)

They didn't drop, they went from 27 to... 24. And yes I believe it at the moment but we'll see after the semi-finals.

Oh, they were 25th before the rehearsals and dropped to 27th just right after. Haven't checked it today.

Still, that's just too low.

The views just aren't there so far on YT, last year the view counts of the Pápai's official music video and his first rehearsal were much higher. Obviously this can change with the SF but so far we don't have the same amount of buzz on YT we had last year, this is why I don't think we are getting another Top10 placement this year.

I wanted to make one more effort to find something good about this entry, so I looked up the lyrics on the official site (https://eurovision.tv/participant/aws).
The English translation there is somehow confusing. Is the translation bad or incorrect or do the lyrics really make that little sense?
Maybe someone is here who speaks Hungarian and can answer that?

I made a more literal translation which I posted in here few weeks ago, let me quote it:

By the way, I think the translation of the lyrics has not been posted here yet, so let me try:

AWS - Goodbye Summer

Let's play with cards open at last:
My ship has to go
And it will leave you behind
My blood will live on in you
And if you don't sell it, the mark is on your heart,
It will lift you up to the sky

Goodbye summer, now you're late
You have lied that you will be mine
But you never came
Goodbye dreams, thanks for fading away
Now it's time for me to get back
What you took from me

Life in my veins got weary
I know you want to hold me still
But let me go, I beg you
Here, rip off of me what is yours
And if you don't sell it, the mark's on your heart
It will lift you up to the sky

(Goodbye summer...)

The background story is that the lead singer, Örs has lost his father last year (he was an acknowledged historian) and the lyrics read as his father's last words to him.
So in its topic it's like Germany's entry.

Thank you for your effort, this makes the lyrics more understandable.
Unfortunately it doesn't change the fact that I have to mute my tv when AWS performs. I just can't stand all that screaming.

They're having technical issues all around. Already started 3 times and had to stop like 5 seconds into the song.

Wow, just saw the video of the second rehearsal. Gossebumps. Not only is the song itself brilliant, but the whole staging has a wonderful effect. A pure experience. Just love these guys.

The sound mixing isn't the best in the video, the vocalists are too loud, but they will likely fix that for the show.

Yeah, you could barely hear Örs. Hope they realize that and that they turn up his mic because the growling is the most important part of the whole song!

I have become quite an ESC addict over the last years. I spend a lot of time here in the forum reading posts and discussing with other users, and I watch a lot of ESC-related video material on youtube.
The vast majority of everything I have seen or heard about the Hungarian entry is very positive. Some even think it’s a possible winner. That made me think a little deeper about my own musical taste and what I am doing here.
Not only this year, but every year there are some entries that are obviously popular and in the end successful which I personally strongly dislike (this year for example Hungary, Moldova or Sweden, for different reasons). On the other hand I tend to like underdogs and generally the more quiet songs, often with meaningful lyrics and rather „smooth“ melodies (Lithuania for example, or France). Those often don’t even qualify for the final.
Long speech, short conclusion: Maybe I should finally admit to myself that I do not really belong here with my obviously restricted musical horizon. And I should not annoy other people by saying „I like this and dislike that for whatever personal reasons“. So I’ve come to this idea: If Hungary gets a top 10 placement in the final, I will delete my account here (by the way: how do I do that?) and turn my back on the ESC. That will be hard (like the addict throwing away his drug) but you can hold me responsible for that. If it’s not in the top 10, I will keep my account for another year but I promise to write no more postings that express a dislike for anything.
Thanks for reading this, I wish you all a good time.

We all dislike (some) popular songs and we all like (some) underdogs... don't be so dramatic

I really have no idea what you are talking about. Many people on this Forum here don't have the versatility in mucic Genres and that doesn't prevent them from participating. Many people hate Hard Rock/Heavy Metal and just recognize noise in AWS. So why would you want to delete your account? And why do you connect your future participation with AWS? If you really hate this song so much and can't stand it to maybe coming into the top 10, then probably you might be not open-minded in music, but it is no reason to say good-bye. I for my part love musical diversity. From opera to metal, everything is in my top 10, so I can enjoy it more. But if you are fixed too much on one genre, then ESC might be a disappointment for you.

What's this? Everyone should be allowed to express their opinions here, good or bad, there is no such thing as "right or wrong" in music, we all have different taste and you're entitled to yours like everyone else. Sometimes we are not happy with the outcome in ESC (I'm rarely happy for example), but our own opinions and taste are still as valid as everyone else's. As for this song for example, I absolutely think that people who think this could end up top. 10, let alone a winner candidate, are delusional. I personally don't dislike the song, nor do I like it, it's somewhere in the middle for me. I like that Hungary is trying something different as I believe musical diversity is good for ESC, but I don't think this has mass appeal enough. I think though it can qualify just based on simply being something different from the rest, but that's about it. I also should add that I think this entry deserves to qualify, in particular looking at the competition it faces in its semi, but I don't think it'll do better than mid-score in the final.

I am sorry, because this will sound insensitive: Grow the fuck up

Seriously, I am so done with people who turn into melodramatic drama queens every fucking time their favourites underperform at ESC. This is a fucking song contest, where simply the most popular song wins. It's that simple. The ESC isn't about your own wish-fulfilment where the public and jury will act the way you personally want. If you turn your back on every community that doesn't agree with you on every song/movie/book/etc., you will have a terrible, sheltered life.

I guess you are just unaware of yourself, but what you are doing here is to try to make us feel bad for liking the song you dislike most... Disgusting at least.

Also... Why wait? Why don't you stop expressing your dislikes just today?
