My heart was born a radical
Electric and dynamical
I never listened to the remedies
With no forevers, no eternities
Holding on beyond the night
For a shadow that feels right
Holding on beyond the night to you

If the dreams we made are made of fire
I would give a life just to live the dream again
If our hearts are hanging on a wire
Let's forget the world below and dance until the end

Let's dance
Our last dance
A rockin' romance
This ain't our last dance
Let's dance
Oh-oh-oh-ooh-ooh
Oh-woah-woah-ooh
Oh-oh-oh-ooh-ooh-ooh

My heart was born in neon lights
Floating in space like satellites
Looking for signs of life tonight
As we collide in black and white
Holdin' on beyond the night
For a shadow that feels right
Holdin' on beyond the night for you

If the dreams we made are made of fire
I would give a life just to live the dream again

Let's dance
Oh, last dance
A rockin' romance
This ain't our last dance
Let's dance
Oh-oh-oh-ooh-ooh
Oh-woah-woah-ooh
This ain't our last dance

Take a deeper breath before we touch
Running out of time, let's use it up
And hold me before the morning comes

Let's dance
Oh-oh
A rockin' romance
This ain't our last dance
Let's dance

Running order in semifinals is of less importance, compared to that of the final. Anyway, i think :gr: will qualify, It is a rather radio friendly song and if they manage to stage it the way they envisioned it, i guess it will sail through with no difficulty. Not to mention that there are quite a few no hopers in this semi. No need to mention them.

And for the record, a top-5 placement in the semi of 2019, can hardly be called a "borderline qualifier".

I still think Greece will qualify as the jury will most likely give a lot of points. It is a very inoffensive song and the countries in direct competition in this semi (Serbia, Moldova, San Marino) are less jury-friendly. But Greece consistently messes up the staging and the vocals so it is far from certain. Though the semi final is really weak so it would require a really big mess to miss out.

Finally got around to listening to this Greek ESC-entry and quite frankly I love it xcheer

It is catchy, melodic and has a kind of cinematic music movie retro-feel to it like it could have been part of anything from Fame or Footloose to Flashdance but at the same time feels fresh and energetic. This so deserves to qualify for the final imo and is one of my favourites in this year's competition (currently together with Cyprus and San Marino). 10p from me xup

I liked the staging but it was not very appropriate for esc or television in general, it did look confusing and messy. Could have worked in 2018 when there were no LEDs but on that year it was a no.
exactly. and also I won't get how people settle for anything less than perfect. Like it's a once in a lifetime opportunity and you choose to have bad or even a mediocre performance and staging.. like.. or maybe they are just tasteless.

I don't really feel the staging was THAT problematic, for me it was mainly the camera work, that looked extremely random. There was almost no moment where they were looking at the cameras or having any obvious connection to the public or the viewers. I do not know if that was a director choice or just huge nerves, I guess a combination. I believe that if she wasn't that nervous and the camera work was tight and made sense, she could have even been around 12th-15th place.

A-lister's review:

It's alright I guess, but expected from a Kontopoulos-composition it's still a bit bland and outdated, although it's a quite big step up from the 2020 entry so at least we have that. It is obviously trend-chasing with the 80's-inspired Pop, but maybe a year too late? Dua Lipa has been mentioned and this does indeed sound pretty similar to her "Physical" track. I don't mind this though, but it is a bit bland as mentioned and clearly lacks personality, also funny to see that both Greece and Cyprus this year seem to target the same audience, with Greece being the stronger one of the two imo. This is a top. 20 for me.

Yes it looked more like something out of indie musical theater rather than a televised show.
Also the mixing felt very off. Like the backing vocals were too loud while Katerina's voice and the music itself were hard to hear. The one thing "Better love" had going for it was the slick production but you couldn't tell from that live performance.

Still I prefer a failed alternative approach rather than the recycled blandness that the "dream team" is serving both this year and in 2020. 2018 and 2019 were steps towards the right direction for Greece that didn't produce good results for reasons not related to the actual quality of the songs. So the broadcaster just resigned and retreated to the go-to safe choice of Kontopoulos. It is a shame as there is definitely much more talent and genuine artistry in the country that deserves to be showcased and could have an impact in the contest.

Dream team brought a better result in 2017 than both 2018 and 2019 so if we agree that ''Last dance'' is better than ''This is love'' maybe we could expect a higher than 17th result?

Haha, our dancers travelled to Moscow today. They'll get vaccinated for covid-19 with the Sputnik-V vaccine. Cannot wait to see the "side effects" xrofl

Before their trip...

After their trip...

It's a strong attempt and it will qualify unless they screw up staging, which shouldn't actually be an issue.
Just get Stefania flying on a Pegasus to reach out to a hot topless Greek guy, and grab them 12 pointers one by one xheat xheat xheat

THE GOOD:
  • The song has a nice beat.
  • The vocals are good.
THE BAD:
  • It doesn't excite me, really.
THE VERDICT:

While this song isn't plain in any way, it also doesn't get things going for me. It might barely squeak by into the Final because it is a decent song after all. 7 points

Cyprus and Greece are very different though to me.

I like this type of chorus - and Stefania is gorgeous -, but ... this is also one of the most generic songs of the contest. It's uninspired song writing, in fact I feel a bit the same as with last year's Stefania song.

I really like Stephanie's voice. I know that many will disagree, but I liked her last year's song much more. Last year's song had a video with a plot, it was more rhythmic and better remembered. This year the song is light and pleasant, but somehow ordinary, it lacks individuality, brightness. The video clip also looks blurry, seems cheap. But I still like Stefania, she is cute, she has a wonderful voice, I would like the song to go to the final.

Do you know this song has some of the fastest tempos this year? Very high BPM rate.
