Re: GERMANY 2018

If I understood everything correctly, we will be able to hear the songs for the first time on the evening of our national final.

In Germany is already panic, that the Televoter will be overvoted by the Juries #dramaconfirmed

I guess we will still get some rehearsal impressions, but no full songs until the show - If not, they would have to do rehearsals without media in general to avoid leaks which is pretty hard to achieve :D

Well, that's a good thing, isn't it? The German televoters have proven often enought, that they are unable to choose the right song (as the producers as well).

https://www.eurovision.de/news/Die-internationale-Jury-fuer-ESC-Vorentscheid-,jury398.html

International Jury for our NF is out, Margaret Berger, Tinkara Kovac, Ruth Lorenzo, Bruno Berberes might be the most common names for Eurovision-fans there.

What a random bunch, I don't get these international juries filled with former ESC artists as if they are somehow "experts" totally hijacking all natiional selections xshrug They should involve A&R People, producers, radio programmers, DJ's etc. ... I think they often have a better "sense" of things.

Quite interesting interview with Thomas Schreiber. There is only going to be one voting round which is great! And we will get to hear the songs probably on the 16th February. Sounds good to me, 2 weeks to go! :) They also seem to have quite some great ideas for staging, but lets just be calm and see if all their ideas pay off. Two artists havent given a clue yet of which song they want to present for the final, and three songs of the four that definitely will be performed have been written in the song writing camp .. :? Dont know if thats a good thing or bad thing. We'll see.

The term "song writing camp" reminds me of a "fat camp" except here the songwriters are taught how to create better songs xrofl3

Not Really. Here in Germany only Middle of the Road Stuff like "Ghost" and "Perfect Life" is played in the Radios, I doubt that they have a sense of Eurovision in the Opposite to those international Juries who are big Eurovision Fans. Also its to mention that international Juries are usually less corrupted than National One (like in Spain last year). So in the End I think its good as it is at least here in Germany were we (or better said the Germany TeleVoter) are really in desperate need of the Help of those Juries as the History proves.

Re: GERMANY 2018

I think NDR picked the jury members based on how they voted in their respective years of jury membership. For example Tinkara, Ruth and Margaret were all pretty close to the actual result.

Re: GERMANY 2018

I got no hopes for a competitive entry this year. I guess we will end up with the same mess as the UK.

But let me show why we are doomed: 2010 they made a casting in picked that 18 year old girl. She sang a song from Adele, who was mainly unknown in Germany at that time:

After seeing this, it was clear to me that this girl must be send. Stefan Raab did everything that she won, because he saw that potential too. He event manipulated the audience. It still amazing, how she Adeles song made to her own song.

And this year we have again a preselected range of acts, that will all fail. We can only pick the song with which we will fail.
