I adored Alika and really enjoyed 5MIINUST Puuluup (even though I didn't understand a single word of it!) so I am looking forward to what the Estonian music scene can come up with next year! Estonia is a small country yet it has a lot of talent.

I think the song should be in Estonian, we saw in 2024 that songs in people's own languages are on the ascendency, all the folk/rock stuff from Norway, Greece, Armenia etc was strikingly different and made the contest feel truly European.

Hoping it's OLLIE's time this year if he brings a song of the same quality as Venom and My Friend

I think Ollie said somewhere he doesn't want to be "that guy who shows up every year", so he's probably taking a break. I definitely wouldn't mind if he showed up again, as long as his songs were still good. :giggle: So I hope he'll be back another year, if not this one.

He is not popular nor relevant in Estonian music scence. Not sure where you take that he would be the favourite.

Well, one should never underestimate the most recent superstar. I do agree he's not popular enough to have it in the bag by default (not sure anyone is), it will depend on the song. But he does fit the bill for what our audiences might like. Pretty much all the 'superstars' that were successful in EL were great vocalists with big ballads, so if he shows up with a stirring song that shows off his strong voice and tugs on those housewife heartstrings, I'd say he's definitely a potential contender. But if the song is subpar or the competition really strong, he might flop. Need to hear the songs to make any real assessment. :giggle: I guess first things first, we'll find out next week if he made the top 15 or not (and who his competition might be)! I imagine his song will be a jury pleaser, so I'm expecting to see him there, but who knows. Also who the songwriters are will be interesting. Who might those 'winners' be.. are we talking Eurovision winners or EL winners. Watch him show up with a Stig Rästa/Sven Lõhmus song.

Second finalist has gotten their surprise early. Tuuli Rand with the song "Rem", apparently a power ballad. She's a bit of an EL regular, hopefully this year's entry is more competitive than her last song, "Üks öö" from 2021.
Looking forward to more names tonight and tomorrow! :giggle: Unless they all get published beforehand. First two entrants don't seem like contenders for the trophy, tho' never say never until you actually hear the songs I guess. Hope we've got some exciting names to come! :giggle: And perhaps a little insight into how the last song will get chosen.

I read that it would be by a public vote ?

Yup, public vote will decide the last qualifier, we know that much. :giggle: I'm mostly curious about the details, especially how many songs they're planning to give us. 10? 20? 150? Will it be an online poll? Things like that, tho' it's unlikely we'll get the fine details tonight or tomorrow. But perhaps they'll mention something, who knows. :giggle:

Today could sadly be the end of an era if Grete Paia is not in the announced name of Finalists. (unless she's on the wildcard list, however long that is) It would break her consistent cycle of showing up at Eesti Laul every three years. :(

Tommy Cash for Eesti Laul 2025 please!

It's been a pipedream for a decade, but I think it becomes more realistic with each day. He already has a handful of Eurovision related collabs in the past few years. Most recent being with Käärijä :fi: 2023 (UMK interval act maybe?)

Before that with Danny L Harle :uk: 2024 (fun fact, Caroline Polachek is credited as a writer on this)

and before that a couple with Little Big :ru: 2020

10 months later and we are here!

Hyped for Tommy, very underwhelming line-up otherwise. Knowing Estonian televoter, Ant Nurhan will be the winner. Good for him!
