This song is very strange, thanks to the awful English pronunciation.

Lena, please study English before ever try to sing an English song.

Ever heard British people speaking? The "island" where Englisch has its origin?!
Come on, 0 Points? Just because it's Germany?

Another song she's singing:

Bad englisch? I think she's singing and performing the song perfectly.

Sorry, but this whole contest is nothing but crap because of people like you!
Neighbouring countrys (mostly east european) voting for each other; almost unbearable CHEESY songs with even more cheesy singers and dancers! Honestly: Where's the good taste in Europe?!

I don't think she will win, but again, sorry for that, I watched the other entries and west european countries show at least a bit taste of music! Or is it just the enormous clash of cultures between eats and west? 75% of the ESC entries are nothing but ridiculous! The ESC is embarrassing since years.

Lena has an interesting voice, but the song is nothing special.
Only 2 points.

Re: DEUTSCHLAND - Germany 2010 - Lena Meyer-Landrut - Satellite

The German national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 was held yesterday. The six different versions of the song were released minutes after the show and winner Lena Meyer-Landrut currently occupies the top three of the German itunes charts with her three entries.
Satellite, Bee and Love me are currently occupying the first three spots in this order. Jennifer Braun's version of Satellite is currently at number fourteen while her own song I care for you is currently at number four. Her version of Bee is occupying number seven at the moment. The physical single with all three songs, which will be released on Monday, can already be ordered and the CD is currently at number three on the amazon.de music charts.

Furthermore, the viewing figures of the German national final have been announced. The programme was a major success and attracted an average of 4.50 million viewers making it the most watched programme of the day among the younger audience.

Meanwhile, the songwriters of the four songs in the national final were revealed:

1.Bee: Written by Rosi Golan, Per Kristian Ottestad and Mayaeni Strauss

2.Satellite: Written by Julie Frost and John Gordon

3.I care for you: Co-written by Max Mutzke

4.Love me: Written by Stefan Raab and Lena Meyer-Landrut

Ok, I'm glad the show was a succes for the arrangers. I just wish they would have gotten a better song out of it

I give this song 2 points because it's not that bad, the performance could be improved majorly though.

It's funny how this song has 23% going for 0 pts and another 23% going for 12 pts in the poll.

Most controversial song this year?

It's the best song in the competition by a mile and Lena performs it wonderfully.

It's the only entry that would have any chance of charting in the UK.

Unfortunately it's probably too much of an aquired taste to win this show.

Hmmm... not sure what to do with this one. The song is rather catchy, her singing (besides the 'bad' English) sounds rather strange. But then again, her appearance is rather good (nice looking girl... in terms of "she looks sympathetic, kind, amicable, neighbourly"... before anyone gets strange ideas 'bout me :? ). In a friendly way, I'd say she reminds me a bit of Lily Allen (of who I like most of the songs)... this could become a rather dark horse I think.
Nevertheless... for now... 4 pts from me.

I reckon this is a pretty good song and, if the performance can just be brushed up a bit (without losing the heart of it), this could easily give Germany their best placing for a while. And as a big fan of German music, I really hope that happens! Best of luck with it!

Re: DEUTSCHLAND - Germany 2010 - Lena Meyer-Landrut - Satellite

Most controversial song this year?

Quite possibly. Lena Meyer-Landrut tends to also be a lover-her-or-hate-her figure here in Germany. Relatively little middle-ground. But most viewers of the ESC-qualifiers love her. She was a massive favourite ever since her first entrancing performance. And, she won.

In any case, being controversial is good. It's indifference and forgetability that makes for bad rankings.

It's the only entry that would have any chance of charting in the UK. Unfortunately it's probably too much of an aquired taste to win this show.

It's arguably the most sophisticated ESC-entry so far. No wonder it's probably most compatible with the tastes in the motherland of pop.

In any case, cornering a niche also works for the ESC, I believe. Just consider Lordi... There are a dime-a-dozen in terms of soft ballads and eurodance extravagancies. The few songs that appeal to folks with a more sophisticated taste, plainly face less competition among viewers (and you probably only need a smallish minority anyway to make number one in a country). And the jurys ought to also take to Lena's Satellite, if she performs well in Oslo.

I cannot recall Germany fielding such a good entry ever since I've been following the ESC. I am proud we're not participating THIS year in the further dumbing-down of the ESC. Germany, Turkey, Belgium are to date my favourites this year. I trust I'd judge the same way were I to be a non-German national.

Re: DEUTSCHLAND - Germany 2010 - Lena Meyer-Landrut - Satellite

BTW, I recommend listening to the more polished studio-recording of "Satellite". Lena has had only Wednesday to Friday to learn and practice the song (next to two others). So by the time of Oslo, I trust she'll approach the polish of the studio-recording.

Furthermore, the odd blurry internet clip does not do justice to the captivating live performance that singles her out as someone out of the ordinary. She grooves.

Regarding her English, it's got attitude! She accentuates words for dramatic effect. As for the mock cockney inflection, I find it charming. Being myself half-British, I'm easily bothered by cheesy accents and bad articulation, yet do not see Lena offending on that count. As said, her English has attitude as befits her avantgarde-esque style.

Actually, none of the videos you'll find online can compare to seeing her performing the song live in high quality on your home TV set.

I consider the poll on the main page far more representative than the one in this thread, and the votings on the main page clearly show that you either love this song or hate it. 23% gave 0 pts, 23% gave 12 pts.

I kinda like this, it's weird but in a good way! The accent is really charming!
Maybe the song too difficult for Europe, but this may very well give Germany their best position in years, possibly top 10! If Europe "gets it", that is...

Can't be stressed enough. That's why the German entry might be presently underrated in ESC circles. Lena Meyer-Landrut's an exceptional entertainer.

Oh, and she's already topping the European Download Charts. :) And in Germany holding the 1st, 2nd and 3rd download chart position. Not bad, eh, considering how the songs were just released barely 24 hours ago... :)
