That would be great then :)
Well hopefully it will be great if and when the BBC actually give the UK people what they want - a decent song! Then we might stand half a chance ;)
When Katrina won (a long time ago now), it was a really big deal here. It was in the media for months.

Congratulations to Lena and Germany anyway. You deserve it :D

I very much doubt Israel gave Germany no points merely on grounds of musical taste. Come on guys, it's 2010!!!

In any case, I'm very curious to see how juries and the wider audience voted in every country.

Lena's victory seems to once again move the ESC closer to the music-buying scene and away from the novelty/extravaganza shtick. That only can help the ESC's image and I expect this to lead to more modern quality music of good taste entering the contest.

I mean, not only did Lena's groovy song win, but Manga - a serious rock band with serious credentials - win. Perhaps they'd even in hindsight recognise that they didn't even need a gimmicky robot (and that it might have rather hurt than helped them). Belgium, also credible contemporary music, did almost as well and won its semi-final.

It's a new era for the ESC. Good taste is making a comeback!

It reminds me when Eastern European countries (including Estonia) won it year after year the first time few years ago and their reactions. If by any chance UK had won last night (yeah, I know, impossible, LOL) I'm sure they (well at least their media) wouldn't have been this excited.
I'm sorry but that's absolutely not true at all. The BBC may not care too much for Eurovision but if we'd have won (impossible as you rightly say) the story would have been HUGE.
And not only in the United Kingdom. People would be calling for an investigation into voting fraud or bought juries!

Apparantly Hanover, Hamburg and Berlin have already offered to host the contest...i hope that either hanover or hamburg will be chosen though for selfish reasons ;)

Lena the winner, big mistake! I couldn't stand her voice. She won becauce of the nice catchy song. She was just lucky to stand out with her quirkiness.

People, be reasonable and choose the place where it's cheaper to get by plane to. For me :D

So Moldova, Belarus and Israel (doesn't really count for me, because it's obvious that it will take many more years until Germany has a fair chance in Israel) the only countries giving no points to Germany? Wow, good result.

tbh, I never expected Lena to win. I thought Top 10 and maybe even Top 5 is possible, but Raab seems to be a genius. Everything he touches becomes golden.

Well, that doesn't matter. Those 5 countries that didn't give points to Lena are countries that are irrelevant for the Western music market anyway.

She got points from every single Western country and 12 points from each Scandinavian country.
And 12, 12, 10 from the Baltic states. High points from the Balkan too :)

Let's have a look at the current international iTunes charts:

Germany #1
Switzerland #1
Austria #1
Denmark #1
Finland #1
Norway #1
Sweden #1
Ireland #1
Spain #1
Greece #1
Luxembourg #1
Belgium #2
Netherlands #2
Australia #21
Portugal #28
Italy #48

Actually it looks like both Cologne and Hamburg can't host the next ESC as the arenas in this cities are needed for other events.

 Number one in Spain too! Congrats, cause it didn't happen with an esc entry (even with the Spanish ones  ) since Dana International

I bet this will be one of the biggest international commercial success for an esc winner :D

And about the host city hmm.... there are cheap flight from Madrid to Francfort and Berlin and from Zaragoza to Düsseldorf, so I'm ok with any of those cities. But Berlin seems to be the most interesting one, I always wanted to go there! :D

Now it is more or less official. Lena will start again 2011.

Raab and Lena announced it on a press conference. the officials from NDR, ARD etc. agree to it.
