Nations or members in cyan have entered NSC at least once before.


Waiting list (WL) rules:
  • Voting in each final of NSC as part of the waiting list jury is compulsory.
  • Any waiting list nations who fail to vote will be moved 2 places down on the list.
  • Nations who fail to vote 2 finals in a row will be removed from the list.
  • Under certain circumstances waiting list nations can take a break from voting in the finals if a solid reason is given. During that period of time the position of the nation on the waiting list remains frozen and it can move neither up nor down.
  • Nations with 'NSC XXX' beside them will debut/return in the next contest.
  • Nations with 'NSC XXX?' beside them can send a reserve entry to the next contest.

First of all, welcome to NSC! If you have any questions regarding the contest, feel free to post them in this thread or ask one of the mods: @Stargazer, @berlyda or @Veronika.

In order to get familiar with the contest, please take a look at the RULES!

If you want to apply for a place in NSC (or if you want to return), simply send a PM to Stargazer - you'll be added to the waiting list (see above).

Please note that you are probably going to be waiting for a long time as there is a strong demand for spots on the roster. In the meantime, you may enter the Waiting List contest, vote in the semi-finals of NSC and take part in the various spin-off contests if you wish to. Don't forget that voting in the finals is compulsory.

Hi everyone,

I just want to let you know (in advance) that I decided to withdraw from NSC. It has been a very pleasing experience for me to discover a huge variety of music in the past months, and I was looking forward to sharing the songs that I collected in the past months. Though the timing has just changed its pace, it is only worth it if I feel positive and happy in a community where I invest my time and energy for. But it is not in my nature to ignore and suck up all the toxic negativity that I had to deal with right when things were advancing.

To me, it is not okay to call a member's chances of participating "a waste of roster space" because I failed to submit a song in a day that I was never made aware of. To me, it is not okay to exaggerate a tag that did not lead to a notification and refer to it as "we sent many reminders, mind you". I am glad that Afnia had their chance to participate in this edition (or as some refer to it as "honoring"), and I am glad that they are in. But I am not in a bull fight to prove who is more committed or who cares more about this contest than others. We have personal lives and I have things to deal with. That does not indicate my willingness or commitment to this contest just because some others "prove themselves more" by sending a song.

That sort of start off just does not sit well with me, I am under the impression that I will never feel included here if this is how easily we make assumptions of others, and I am not going to carry on this negative feeling. So this is my official withdraw notice.

I know you say you've made up your mind, but I hope you reconsider. I would hate to see you go just because of one member and a faulty notification system. You are very welcome in NSC, and even though you missed the deadline this time, you are still in the roster and can participate in the next edition. I understand the desire to avoid negativity though, so I respect your decision.

I don't know why you're making this situation escalate further. I don't know you personally and my post wasn't meant to be personal.

You have to understand that those posts were written under the assumption that Afnia would not be allowed to debut despite having sent a reserve entry, and you would join the roster without an entry instead (which I have never witnessed happen in my 14 years on this contest, it's always been the case that somebody debuts the edition they enter the roster with an entry).

It would be unfair from my point of view to let that happen whilst there are others who send in one and keep waiting (yes, in my book sending reserve entries shows commitment, whether you like it or not. There have been discussions surrounding roster extension, and I have always advocated for all editions to be filled up as much as possible, with WL nations being able to send in reserve entries to fill up the edition to 60. For me having a 57-song edition is a waste of roster space, when you have 2 nations who want to send entries from the WL). Now the problem has been solved, and both of you enter the roster and you get to debut with an entry the upcoming edition.

However, the really important point to remember is that the discussion surrounding your debut stemmed from the said clause in the NSC rules which is extremely ambiguous and has been carried out in different manners. Again it was never about you personally. It was about the unclarity of the rule and how it was being interpreted all these years.

Again, I have nothing against your debut, I think you should stay. I apologize if I hurt you. But at the end of the day, it is your decision. And you have to put your happiness first.

Do all wait listers fully realise that if they have the next edition number and question marks in brackets after their nation name, they can always send a reserve entry during every submission period to guarantee that they will never miss a debut if the cards fall in their favour? Maybe a good time to just re-state that here for the relevant nations so that they are aware ;)

As much as it is sad to see you go this is quite dramatic for all the wrong reasons.

I wouldn't have submitted a song except the part in the PM about me debuting
