Nations or members in cyan have entered NSC at least once before.

Waiting list (WL) rules:

  • Voting in each final of NSC as part of the waiting list jury is compulsory.
  • Any waiting list nations who fail to vote will be moved 2 places down on the list.
  • Nations who fail to vote 2 finals in a row will be removed from the list.
  • Under certain circumstances waiting list nations can take a break from voting in the finals if a solid reason is given. During that period of time the position of the nation on the waiting list remains frozen and it can move neither up nor down.
  • Nations with 'NSC XXX' beside them will debut/return in the next contest.
  • Nations with 'NSC XXX?' beside them can send a reserve entry to the next contest.

First of all, welcome to NSC! If you have any questions regarding the contest, feel free to post them in this thread or ask one of the mods: @Stargazer, @berlyda or @Veronika.

In order to get familiar with the contest, please take a look at the RULES!

If you want to apply for a place in NSC (or if you want to return), simply send a PM to Stargazer - you'll be added to the waiting list (see above).

Please note that you are probably going to be waiting for a long time as there is a strong demand for spots on the roster. In the meantime, you may enter the Waiting List contest, vote in the semi-finals of NSC and take part in the various spin-off contests if you wish to. Don't forget that voting in the finals is compulsory.

And most importantly: Have fun!

Now with Papendink withdrawing, guess it's time for Zechonia to return to the roster?
And yes, the NSC flag-icons need to be updated to the new forum standards :)

Not so sure about it, since Zechonia didn't vote last edition. So I think it is Redwood Republic that has moved up to first place and then Adamsburg on 2nd. :giggle: Also, to get their place, RR still need to send a song to Pyry, otherwise the one next in line gets Papendinks place.

As far as I've understood it from all these years in NSC, if a roster nation withdraws before the deadline, the top WL nation gets to join the roster, regardless of reserve entries sent. That it's only about who sent reserve entries when a nation is removed from having failed to confirm entries.

But either way, you guys are going to have to bear with me a little. I only got back home a few days ago after a couple of weeks away without proper computer access, so not only do I have a bunch of things I need to catch up on and wrap my head around, but then this huge forum move happened out of the blue which has required my full attention, so updating the roster has fallen behind. And now it seems like I need to make 60 new flags as well.... So hang in there, guys.

I think this is correct - if we know a nations is withdrawing, then the top nation on the WL would be able to register an entry and join the main roster. I think the registering of reserve entries only has effect when it comes to nations not registering an entry that are on a "must confirm" warning because they missed the previous edition. In that case, the nation that sent a reserve entry who is highest on the waitlist would gain access to the main roster.

So that's the roster updated for now. Not everything carried over with the forum move, so if you suddenly got a @mention, it's because I had to redo all of them. Since the forum is now using a whole new style of flag icons, I'm going to have to redo all of them so I hope everyone's got their flags in their threads for me to use. This will take a bit of time, but I'll try and get them done soon. At least the roster is up to date for the NSC 177 edition. @renzo

This means that we've sadly lost Papendink, but get to welcome Redwood Republic (since Zechonia failed to vote).

Anna, just an observation but have you ever thought about making the list an actual auto numbered list? XD So you don't have to go in and edit the numbers constantly for everyone when we have a new person.

Well I could, but what's the fun in that? Nah, but I like having full control over how it looks (ie having it "01" instead of "1.", be able to make the numbers bold, etc). But thanks for the tip just the same. :)

Yes true. :ROFLMAO: It would make life far too simple. XD fair enough though. It just occurred to me that in WV it was also automatic but here you had to do it manually.

@Stargazer When is the NSC database usually updated? Who is responsible for it?
I've never had access to edit it, so I can't really say. Your best bet is to use the NSC wiki instead (it's up to date):

And if we can get a proper forum search option back with this new forum system, then searching the NSC forum for artists and songs works as well, since practically every edition has had a text show included.

The NSC flag icons (in the new forum style) are finally finished and have been forwarded to those who have the power to upload them. So hopefully it won't be too long before we can use them. :)
Could you post a screenshot of the flags maybe? I'm curious to see how they look.

Well I make the icons a lot larger than what they will appear as on the forum (so they will also look good on your phone), so a screen shot wouldn't necessarily tell you how the icon will look on the forum. But they will be in the same style as the new regular country flags, a modern "flat" look with rounded edges. Like these:

:be: :uk: :se:

I would personally have loved to be able to keep the old design as I don't like modern sleek aesthetics, but these things are not up to me. ;)
