Nations or members in cyan have entered NSC at least once before.

Waiting list (WL) rules:

 • Voting in each final of NSC as part of the waiting list jury is compulsory.
 • Any waiting list nations who fail to vote will be moved 2 places down on the list.
 • Nations who fail to vote 2 finals in a row will be removed from the list.
 • Under certain circumstances waiting list nations can take a break from voting in the finals if a solid reason is given. During that period of time the position of the nation on the waiting list remains frozen and it can move neither up nor down.
 • Nations with 'NSC XXX' beside them will debut/return in the next contest.
 • Nations with 'NSC XXX?' beside them can send a reserve entry to the next contest.

First of all, welcome to NSC! If you have any questions regarding the contest, feel free to post them in this thread or ask one of the mods: @Stargazer, @berlyda or @Veronika.

In order to get familiar with the contest, please take a look at the RULES!

If you want to apply for a place in NSC (or if you want to return), simply send a PM to Stargazer - you'll be added to the waiting list (see above).

Please note that you are probably going to be waiting for a long time as there is a strong demand for spots on the roster. In the meantime, you may enter the Waiting List contest, vote in the semi-finals of NSC and take part in the various spin-off contests if you wish to. Don't forget that voting in the finals is compulsory.

And most importantly: Have fun!

Does this mean ::dop and ::ved are skipping 159 instead?
Probably best to keep them in and just move on. It was a genuine mistake and there's no point banning them from the next edition since that could affect how people vote for them.
OK, so when this happened I was away on vacation and couldn't deal with it at the time. But I'm a tad bit confused? When I asked Jukica exactly how the ins and outs of the roster works upon taking over its duties, I specifically asked what to do regarding those who fail to vote in the semis and finals, and she told me that only those who fail to vote in both the semis and the final have to skip, but if you vote in the semi but fail to vote in the final (or vice versa), then you don't have to skip an edition. And since Alevender told me that all nations voted in the semis, that means that ::ved ::dop only failed to vote in the final. So which is it then? Was Juki mistaken in her instructions? xthink

When I failed to vote in final once (although I voted in the semi), I was told to skip one edition?

Am I right in thinking that all of the current roster on page 1 except Kosma and Calypso can participate in my edition?

Still waiting on word about that. I seem to have been getting mixed messages on what to do with people who vote in semis but not in the final (or the other way around), so I've both been told that you can participate and that you have to skip. But hopefully it will be sorted out shortly. Will keep you posted once it's established what is what.

That's great, thank you! I think Kosma failed to vote both in the semi and the final? Maybe I'm wrong. :D

Kosma can not, Calypso can. The rule is simply regarding non-qualifiers who fail to vote. If a non-qualfier FTVs in the final, they are banned for an edition. If a qualifier FTVs in the final, they may still take part in the next edition. Voting in the semis is irrelevant to whether or not a nation gets banned.

Or if you think about another way, no-one is double punished for not voting. If you're a semi-finalist, your punishment is automatically not qualifying. If you're a finalist, your punishment is automatically not winning/PQing. If you're a non-finalist, your punishment is having to sit out for an edition.

As for what happens to ::dop and ::ved, if you wanted to be a stickler for the rules you could look to ban them from 159, but personallyI think that's a bit harsh and they shouldnt be forced to sit out after an edition where they voted - it's an exceptional circumstance Stargazer

Ah, that's the piece of the puzzle I was missing! Thank you for clarifying. xrose I apologize for not having been the best roster mod, but the position was kind of thrust upon me overnight, while I was still quite confused about how it all worked exactly and with no one to ease me into it. So it's been a bit of a headache trying to wrap my head around all the little details.

But it would be nice if other members could weigh in what to do with ::ved ::dop? I'd prefer to be consistent and that the same rules should apply to everyone, but I also don't want to be unnecessarily harsh either.

And however most of you don't like this opinion. I wish that it goes to 0 tomorrow and than to 100 again the day after tomorrow. :)

I applied for the waiting list on 21th of May. Why am I not in the list yet? (I should be in 7th place considering I voted in the last NSC final)
