Waiting list (WL) rules:

• Voting in each final of NSC as part of the waiting list jury is compulsory.
• Any waiting list nations who fail to vote will be moved 2 places down on the list.
• Nations who fail to vote 2 finals in a row will be removed from the list.
• Under certain circumstances waiting list nations can take a break from voting in the finals if a solid reason is given. During that period of time the position of the nation on the waiting list remains frozen and it can move neither up nor down.
• Nations with 'NSC XXX' beside them will debut/return in the next contest.
• Nations with 'NSC XXX?' beside them can send a reserve entry to the next contest.

If you want to apply for a place in NSC (or if you want to return), simply send a PM to Stargazer - you'll be added to the waiting list (see above).

Please note that you are probably going to be waiting for a long time as there is a strong demand for spots on the roster. In the meantime, you may enter the Waiting List contest, vote in the semi-finals of NSC and take part in the various spin-off contests if you wish to. Don't forget that voting in the finals is compulsory.

Personally there are songs in Dalisska's history that I don't really like anymore, but they're still a part of "me" and my history in the contest. It just shows how my tastes have changed over the years.

That said I'd agree with Fearnavigatr, I think it would be a bit much to expect you to reenter the waiting list over something like this.

I had this idea on my mind for a while that I no longer want to participate as 10 Regions of Mobius. And I don't mean like just change my name à la Serenate & Clair to Ölanda to Hypjø, but rather have nation treated as a separate entity from Mobius. However, I worry that in classic NSC style of treating some rules with lenience and others rigidly, in this particular case I would be required to withdraw Mobius from WL and then enter WL all over again as this new entity. So really my questions is whether I can have Mobius simply switched for another nation?

I do have, what is in my mind, a good reason for this. I just listened to the Mobian NSC history recap and I found that I really only listen to maybe 3 songs from that list of 52 songs. My taste has shifted in a way that I can no longer put myself in the mindset I had at the time and all I can think is "why the hell did I send that??". This is further evident in the votes similarity stats Orian does. When I applied for the WL again some people said they were glad to see me return because they really enjoyed my taste, but when I look at that table all I see is really low scores with those people. I have no idea how others perceive Mobius, what feelings they get when they see the name or whether they think its interesting, dull, great, awful, trite, but this tells me that whatever those perceptions are they can no longer be applied with certainty or at least not in a way I could ever be comfortable with. Sure, you could argue that having this history actually makes it more interesting since you can see how someone's music taste evolved, but there is VERY crucial 20-month period missing. And that makes me uncomfortable.

The name itself, 10 Regions of Mobius, has gone from cool and different to kinda tacky and trying to hard (which basically is who I am tho). I don't know... I just really don't like Mobius as an entity anymore.

I had the exact same problem. ^^ Which is why I entered as !%PT# in NSC 123 (although it was planned for NSC 121 because that song is basically what !%PT# is all about) and will continue on as !%PT# from now on... I have problems with some of my choices being dragged by new ones and I felt they just wouldn't fit the new background I'd like to have. So when (and if) I return ever again I'd like !%PT# to be the nation with only 3 editions in NSC and Tinchey as a member with 48 editions.

@Everyone I'm always baffled by those taste changes you all speak about I don't think my taste has changed a little bit ever in my life, as my entries history reflect. To me the whole idea of becoming someone else seems akin to having your body possessed or some other eerie stuff Not judging anyone, just saying.

Personally I feel like my taste has become a lot less "female indie pop" than it used to be. There are certain songs that I find myself being bored to tears by that I'd probably have been really into a few years back.

I think in general I've become a great deal pickier and harder to move when it comes to music. I thought that it might have been the overall quality of music going down, but it's probably just my own tolerance for songs I just don't like has gone down.

I think it makes sense for me though. Before joining NSC I actually wasn't much of a music person and I was still in the middle of figuring out what I liked, I mean I heard songs on the radio and when I watched Eurovision but I didn't go out of my way to interact with music so I think NSC has contributed a lot to my music tastes.

In this case, starting a fresh nation before actually reentering the roster, I don't see a big problem with it. Seeing as the waiting list applications are mainly made by members anyway with the nation in parenthesis. That's just my opinion though, I think a general consensus is necessary here.

Yes, this! I just feel like Mobian entries don't represent what I am now. This wouldn't be problem if there was a natural progression of taste, but as I said, there is two-year period missing for me. And that's what I really don't like. Also plz come back soon. ;_;

Well besides me no longer liking the name aesthetically, I also don't like it's connotations. The name is actually two fictional worlds joined together; 12 Colonies of Kobol from Battlestar Galactica and Mobius from a comic series I'd rather not bring up, and I'm no longer fan of either. So there's that.

It might actually be three leagues lower for some (or higher for others, that's an optimistic thought), which is primarily why I'm doing this.

Hah, it's quite the opposite for me. The spectrum of what I like has significantly increased. There are songs that I listen now which sound exactly like something that would bore me to death two years ago. I also got into whole new genres that I was previously just kinda skirting around, occasionally going in the shallow end.

I would personally have no problem with Keko changing from 10ROM (alltough i really liked that name) to a new nation... i mean, its even before joining the roster again. Changing the country of entries you already sent shouldn't be allowed, i never would call a pre-INK entry INKish, just because it has a style i connect with INK as nation (there would just be one: Clazziquai Project - Ping). The past is the past and the past can't be changed. I'm not sure if i understood it right, that tincheys wish was to do that.

In my own case: neither Paperland, nor INK or Paper & INK were totally different nations, they have the same history. INK is atm "officially" only a region who participates in NSC while the rest of the Country dont do that atm. And no, i won't make drama if someone calls INK a nation. ^^


About the taste change thingy:

I still like all styles of music i liked in the past... but my taste always growed in diversity and with that, i became more picky than i was in the past in case of music. I'm even not sure if it stopped to grow in diversity... i thought, but in the last years i became to like more and more rock music and even sent a metal entry to NSC.

Great diagram, it sums up the evolution of my music taste pretty accurately too. Back when I first joined NSC I couldn't stand any kind of ballad whatsoever, but now that seems ridiculous. Equally I would not send half of the stuff that I sent in my first decade if I had my current taste Although I still like those genres.

And regarding the new nation: I don't see why you shouldn't be able to. After all, returning nations are treated exactly the same way as new ones. Of course you lose the privilege of having your name in cyan however

As for my own taste, it hasn't really changed much since I joined NSC, but when I joined in 2009, I was already 25 years old, and had gone thru most of the changing of my taste in music already. There might be some minor differences, but overall, I'm still the same as when I joined.

As for name changes, if Keko joins with a brand new nation, I'll still add it to the 10ROM row in my points statistics, as for me, that follows the person behind the nation, and not the nation itself.

This is exactly what I wanted to avoid, please don't do this. The new nation will be entirely separate entity. You can have joint row for "Keko", but don't have same row for Mobius and the new nation, that really defeats the entire purpose of what I'm doing.
