Nations or members in cyan have entered NSC at least once before.

Waiting list (WL) rules:

 • Voting in each final of NSC as part of the waiting list jury is compulsory.
 • Any waiting list nations who fail to vote will be moved 2 places down on the list.
 • Nations who fail to vote 2 finals in a row will be removed from the list.
 • Under certain circumstances waiting list nations can take a break from voting in the finals if a solid reason is given. During that period of time the position of the nation on the waiting list remains frozen and it can move neither up nor down.
 • Nations with 'NSC XXX' beside them will debut/return in the next contest.
 • Nations with 'NSC XXX?' beside them can send a reserve entry to the next contest.

nscjoin.png

First of all, welcome to NSC! If you have any questions regarding the contest, feel free to post them in this thread or ask one of the mods: @Stargazer, @berlyda or @Veronika.

In order to get familiar with the contest, please take a look at the RULES!

If you want to apply for a place in NSC (or if you want to return), simply send a PM to Stargazer - you'll be added to the waiting list (see above).

Please note that you are probably going to be waiting for a long time as there is a strong demand for spots on the roster. In the meantime, you may enter the Waiting List contest, vote in the semi-finals of NSC and take part in the various spin-off contests if you wish to. Don't forget that voting in the finals is compulsory.

And most importantly: Have fun!

Re: Current Member Roster & How to join the waiting list

I see some WLers are given breaks on demand now. It seems questionable to me - it's unfair towards those who vote every edition and kind of makes the whole point of WL void.

Even though I personally am part of the mentioned group, I can indeed see where your argument is coming from - I also wouldn't really like to spend months behind a "part-time voter" (what a vague word!), who would be likely to continue that behaviour into the time as an accepted roster member.

First of all though, I see you say "now". This phenomenon hardly qualifies as new, since it dates back to the times when Sean still ran things here, so you could say that this practice was "grandfathered in" in a way, even though there haven't been any official statements or decisions on the subject; it's just one of those things which have always been done this way without complaint or abuse.

Mentioning abuse - yes, it is perfectly right to imply this method could lead to a perversion of the whole "Waiting List" idea in the shape of the aforementioned "part-time voters", but has it happened yet? Most demanded breaks merely span one to (in the rarest case) three editions, maybe once a year at a maximum - and WLers usually don't have to wait much longer anyway. If any demands turn up which potentially break an acceptable frame of frequency and timespan, then I believe the mods in charge of the roster can and should turn them down. Even the NSC rules say things like that are handled on a case-to-case basis.

Additionally, your argument could be extended to any leniency towards full roster members, such as accepting late votes or granting exactly this kind of demanded break you're now questioning. Both of these could - in the same way - be seen as unfair towards people at the top of the WL. I believe we should hold Waiting Listers to the same standards as full roster members; your opinion might of course differ from mine.

If I wasn't on my phone, I could elaborate; but for now, you'll just have to live with the fact that no one has - at least if I remember correctly - stated that they felt mistreated by WLers being granted breaks in a concrete case.

I find it tolerable for one edition. But more, not at all. Because one edition takes 3 week anyway. Count the whole summer for 12 weeks, 3 makes 1/5. I think no more is needed to be said.

Re: Current Member Roster & How to join the waiting list

Hey everyone! :D
I have a question about the contest. :?
I've already created my nation, I have its name and its flag and I want to join the waiting list.

I sent PMs to anselm and renzo several times few days ago, but got no reply. :?

I just wonder when I'll be added to the waiting list and what I need for that apart from the name of my nation and my flag (maybe something else?)

Help please! xwhat

I already had the same thoughts...

I suggest, that WLers who take a break would at least not move. I mean that they should stay on their place in the WL, also if a full roster nation withdraw.

Like that:

1. Shred
2. Shwartz (on hiatus for actual edition)
3. Vreneli's Gärtli
4. South Banks

Now full roster nation Dugk withdraw and this is how WL should look after that, if you ask me:

1. Vreneli's Gärtli
2. Shwartz (on hiatus for actual edition)
3. South Banks

Shwartz didnt lost a place, but also didn't moved, it just stayed who it were. It's unfair if you ask me, that a nation who don't vote (even if announced) has the possibility to move up in the WL.

May just somtimes takes some more days because it is only one person (anselm) who is responsible for it. So far you also have nothing to do (just optional voting in semis) and i guess you will be added untill the final. If not, just mention anselm again or pm him a second time.

Paper7 Probably the best idea around here regarding that. Full agreement from me too! :D

Someone should withdraw and come back to the WL as Vreneli's Gärtli.

Oh, thanks a lot! :D

I hope there will not hear pop music such as Macarena and Barbie-girl!

I know that I have a bit of a strange taste in music, and I try to pick up something delicious. ;)

xlove But Vreneli's Gärtli is already in NSC... could be problematic ^^

Well, technically you can't move up on the roster. Non-voters just move down 2 spots. I really like Sven's idea though.
