Maimuna, eh? Literally means "egg of May" in Estonian.

I really like it! Never thought I'd see Belarus choose something like this again. I did like "Cheesecake", but it's good to see an entry that is not laughable.
But I must say... from a visual perspective, I think they should choose more complementary outfits. I like his better. Fits the song better. Hers is a bit tacky imo.

I'd have preferred Accent, and I think it would have scored better in Vienna, but Time was a close second for me, so I can't really complain. This is still going to be my favourite Belarusian entry since I started watching the contest (in 2007) - 8 points for now, and hopefully increasing with a rework!

I don't think Milki would have done well in Vienna. Sure the televoters would have voted it for it like gangbusters, but the juries would have sunk that song big time

Alexander Rybak's reaction;

I go on tour to many places around the world and everywhere Europeans say so much dirt about my homeland, Belarus. And I defend it, defend it. I say that it has a good system. And they say, “What kind of system? It’s all bought/ bribed” And I keep defending it. But I don’t even know anymore what I am defending. Every year, I meet the Belarussian delegation and they keep saying, “Please, write us a song. What do we need to do to win in Eurovision?” And so I wrote a song, spent so much time, so much money. I found some unique and talented girls and I wrote a song about pure and authentic Belarus, how I see it. And then the jury failed it. I even sacrificed by not celebrating Christmas with my parents. But it’s not even about that. Everywhere in Europe, people supported us; experts; fans of Eurovision, and here the jury decided to fail us. I saw this jury before. I’ve met everyone. I remember when I was sick, one guy from the jury came and said to take a picture, one chance with the kids. I smiled and took a picture and he said, “We will always support you.” And this is how they support, yeah? I really hope that I will never again see this jury because it will be very difficult to pretend that I’m happy and that I want to smile.

Very suprised that Milki didn't win, but oh well, looking at Uzari & Maimunas preformance I could understand why it won. :D It really has some potential, but I think it must be revamped a bit to make it more modern to make it have a chance of a really good placement. But at least a decent choice from Belarus. :)

And now when looking at Milkis preformance...I could understand why it didn't win, it was rather boring to be honest. :(

Well, I don't know 100% what he says so I'll take your word for it. It's weird that he tries to defend Belarus from being corrupt but then blames the juries for not being corrupt enough to let his band win :lol:

He just sunk himself :) I must say that "Accent" Chorus is Uber Bad.. even i can write better music... only good part of the song is 2.16 - 2.30 and thats it...

Wow he's really taken the loss badly. If he wanted his song to be the one that went then he should have got them to internally select it. And if they refused then there wouldn't be a song. If they were that desperate for him to do it (which doesn't seem to be the case anymore really) then They would have done that.

I remember months ago when it was announced that he would be involved, I assumed he would be fully In charge and that it would be like a castings format with him picking the girls for the group on television. But then they asked for songs and it appeared his role had been over hyped at the start or that they had changed their mind. Anyway I'm glad Accent didn't win, but I'm not sure on the vocal capacity of the actual winner. :?

I watched the original video and I don't think he actually said that he tried to pay the jury, as funny as that would have been (although there's still the implication that he thought the jury would prefer him because of who he is / he had met them. :?) I think he just meant he's perplexed that the delegation didn't help him or appreciate his effort. But I don't blame them, I wouldn't turn over full control of the song to him and pay for it either if la-la-la-la is the best thing he can come up with. :lol:
