I won't do a song-by-song comparison just yet, but the overall quality blows the mediocre-at-best 2015 out of the water. The main problem this year is that true standout songs just don't seem to exist, but the good-or-better songs vastly outnumber the ones we got last year. Still nowhere near the greatness of 2014, of course.

i think 2015 was not much better than this year. last year everybody was complaining about the huge amount of ballads. this year there is more variety and more uptempo songs, but there is nothing that really stands out like belgium or italy last year. but no clear favorite makes it more exciting :-)

I knew I preferred last year over year, but I didn't think it was that bad. Still, I suppose not all hope is lost just yet - there are a few revamps and reveals yet to come, the stage design should be fantastic if implemented right, and we should hopefully have a close year in terms of results. Hopefully next year goes back up a little quality-wise, though.

I just realized that it's much closer between this and last year as I expected before. This year feels so much stronger for me than the last year but appearantly the difference is not that huge.

Couldn't decide which estonian entry I prefer, so I took it twice :lol: If I go for the songs, maybe 2015 was 5% better. But since this year Estonia's my absolute favourite and I absolutely love the artist and also the song of course, maybe I should choose 2016...
....ah I just keep it as it is

2015 wins for 26-13
It's hardly a surprise. 2016 is the worst edition that I've memory of. It lacks the heavyweight entries that kept us interested and got us discussing in 2015: the many versions of "Here with you", the amazing videoclip of "Goodbye to yesterday", the quirkiness of Electro Velvet, the fierceness of Nina Sublatti, and much more. Where is anything comparable to that, this year? ESC2016 feels like an empty shell just waiting to happen and then to pass away without leaving a trace.
