2013 vs 2012

I will do my ranking next week and while I also believe 2012 most likely was stronger it's not a fair comparison as to me it was one of the strongest years since I've been watching it so i can't be too upset. Plus 2013 is already way better than 2011....

Considering how weak 2011 was that's not an accomplishment

But yeah, I agree 2012 is one of the strongest years really...

I'll also add my ranking next week or so after all entries are ready.

I have to disagree in that I do not think that 2013 is extremely weak. The thing is that 2013 has many decent songs, but not many songs that stand out and also not many songs that are just plain bad. Many songs have quality, but are either quite safe or they sound/look like each other. There is especially an overkill of dance/club songs and ballads sung by female singers this year. Neither one of them is very bad, but it's hard to say which one is clearly the best since everything looks like each other.
I do not think this year lacks quality, but it lacks diversity and therefore it comes across as a bit boring. That is why I liked last year's edition so much: not only because of the high quality, but is was more interesting in that you had some ballads, some ethnic songs, some dance songs, some rock songs, etc. This year is just too much of the same.

I like 2012 better than 2013, just because it had more variety, like Adeline said, and diversity is what makes me like a certain ESC-year.
