Let's meet our competitors!
SONG 1: ACE - Crazy On Emotion
Our first song comes from one of the biggest male voices in the genre - Christian Codenotti, who is better known under the alias "Ace". A cornerstone of the most progressive and active labels in the modern Eurobeat scene - SCP Music - here he presents his hit song from Super Eurobeat Vol. 219 which also featured in the popular Japanese anime Initial D Fifth Stage (scenes from which can be seen in the music video).
SONG 2: PAMSY - So Fragile
From one of the strongest male vocalists in the Eurobeat scene on to one of the best-loved female vocalists. Alessia De Boni, otherwise known under the alias "Pamsy", first appeared on the scene just over 10 years ago and immediately found herself a place in the community's heart with her emotional vocal style and unique slower style. This track - from Super Eurobeat Vol. 162 - is by far my personal favourite Eurobeat song thanks to its tender lyrics and heartfelt delivery.
SONG 3: KEN BLAST - The Top
Another driving-inspired track here, this time from the label Delta Music. Ken Blast - aka American vocalist and songwriter Travis Stebbins - has actually appeared in NSC before, representing Halito in NSC 78 under the alias Eurobeat Brony. This time, he's competing with his 3rd entry under the Ken Blast alias that became an enormous hit with Super Eurobeat and Initial D fans alike! Cue another themed music video...
SONG 4: LAURIE - Hey Guy (Spider Mix)
From the enormous stable of multiple Italian dance labels known as SAIFAM comes this stormer of a track sung by the talented Melody Castellari (aka Laurie). Asia Records - SAIFAM's Eurobeat label - enjoyed its heyday in the mid to late 2000's, and this track is without a doubt one of the strongest and most powerful female-led songs that they released. It never got a release on Avex's Super Eurobeat series, but enjoyed success instead on the Japanese series Love2Para under Farm Records. Bring on the guitars!!!
SONG 5: PAMSY & ACE - 2 Love, 4 Love
This was the very first song that introduced me to the wondrous world of Super Eurobeat. Taken from Super Eurobeat Vol. 156, it's a beautiful ballad-style duet from my two favourite SCP vocalists who compliment each other perfectly in this track. The way that the guitar mingles with the synths during the hook is the perfect combination to match Pamsy & Ace's vocals, and this is still a firm favourite of mine to this day.
SONG 6: GROOVE TWINS - Viva The Night
Our final competitor comes from a label that sadly no longer produces songs, despite it being one of the originating labels on the Super Eurobeat series. A-Beat C was headed by Giancarlo Pasquini (otherwise known as Dave Rodgers) and the label was probably the driving force behind the genre during its formative years through the 90's and into the new millennium. This track features the vocals of Elena Gobbi - officially the highest pitched female vocalist in the genre, now also sadly believed to be retired - as well as Annerley Gordon (who has had commercial success as the Eurodance artist Ann Lee with "2 Times").
So there you have it - our 6 Eurobeat tracks awaiting your votes.
