kopachka Sezen Aksu's "Kacin Kurasi" is my favourite of your Istanbul entries. There are a lot of WorldVision songs I really like but I can bring out the big old L O V E for that one. I adore it. Just puts a massive smile on my face and makes me sway. It's easily one of my favourite discoveries from WorldVision and I thank you very much for introducing me to Sezen and her music.
Your entry from this edition going on now is probably a close second. You've really picked out some wonderful songs from Istanbul
Thank you for your feedback! It's not a surprise I chose both of you for some secret stuff in WV 56 and WV 61.
I can agree Kaçın Kurası is really a discovery, since also I had no idea about it before taking over amazing city of Istanbul. Same thing goes for Dargın Değilim, Sevduğum Yanımda Uyusun and Gül Diyorlar.
Can't wait to see tonight if Ayşenur will increase my qualification rate to 20%.
I know WV84 is not even over yet and there is still a lot of tension and uncertainty in the air. However it all doesn't stop Banu from going to WV 85 and to be completely honest we don't care who wins tonight, WV 85 is going to be Banu themed. So let's start with a little clip of Banu's iconic early 80's movie 'Bu Ikiliye Dikkat' (2 Dangerous Women) and YES tagging every single one of you was very essential. I know you expected someone to like ur posts, respond or pm you or something but cmon it can't be always about you! And to be fair she's much better and more important then you, she is Banu... More Banu clips, pics and gifs coming here in this green room and next edition. You're welcome
All emotion/rage/F**kIMissedTheDeadline-quits will be canceled. Banu will bring peace and harmony to the WorldVision universe. The splendour of Banu is indescribable. She fills my heart with a special something. This is the best reason so far to hang on playing. I'll be thinking of Banu when I make my eventual decision, or the next time i'm upset over anything. There's power to heal others in Banu.
Well I actually discovered this a few weeks ago, the very moment you introduced me to Banu during that time when we were at PlugDJ together. Since then i've followed the way of Banu each day of my existence. A little Banu in your life goes a long way and changes everything. Now that she's coming to WorldVision, I feel that a calm will wash over us all, and that we'll form a large circle, holding hands whilst spinning around Banu in harmony.
Literally this movie of her is her in a bikini 90 mins without any storyline
Backstory on our queen before the final starts:
Banu Alkan, 1958 (1961 according to her) born in Dubrovnik, ex Yugo from a Croatian father and Turkish mother. After her parents divorce she moved together with her mother back to Turkey (1966) and changed her last name to her Mothers and her first name to her Turkish nickname. She left school at the very early age of 13 to pursue a modelling carreer. Unfortunately she didn't gain the success she deserved as she kept becoming a runner up in pageants and modeling contests. In 1978 however she had enough of it when she became 2nd once again to 'Oya Aydogan'.
Oya Oydogan became another Turkish cinema legend and frenemies with Banu. R.I.P. Oya 2016 when she choked on a french fry (no joke)
She stopped modelling and married older multimillionare Gürbüz Hanif. They were living a rich life and had their own 80s tv show, Banu stayed with him untill his death. She did feel like she deserved to be more popular so her husband suggested she should do soft-porn in the late 70s which she agreed on. Sadly this didn't work out for her either, however she got her fame after the 60s, 70s celebs got old and broke through in the 80s with her iconic, semi erotic movies. Afrodit (Aphrodisiac) is probably the most popular one after this one she also declared herself Aphrodisiac. She claims she has turned down a marriage proposal from DONALD TRUMP in the late 80s. In the 90s she made an album and was guesting tons of tv shows. She had another album in the 2000s. She is considered one of the biggest icons of Turkish cinema history.
Omg ahahah how come I didn't read this before and I even watch that show. They are not referring to Banu Alkan though but the other Diva on the show Bülent Ersoy, (Which btw is another artist I will send soon sshhh) she is another 70s, 80s Icon and Turkey's first transgender celeb. Americans have Kaitlyn Jenner? We have Bülent Ersoy since the 70s
