Aleksandar Tijanic, CEO of RTS, Serbia Broadcasting corporation discussed the possibility of the country’s withdrawal from Eurovision 2014.
“We are still thinking about whether we will participate in the Eurosong or not”, Said Tijanic to the Serbian daily tabloid Blic, “In a month we will make a final decision. Public service is in big financial problems. Eurovision is very watched here, but it costs us about 350,000 euros, before the marketing process. Of commercials and sponsors we cover about 200,000 euros, but there is still the expense of 150,000 euros”
Serbia’s Eurovision debut was in 2007. The country participated 7 times, qualified for the final 5 times, and won the contest once.
So far 20 countries confirmed its participation in Eurovision 2014 in Copenhagen.
Will Serbia be joining countries such as Croatia and Turkey and be sitting out this year? Discuss this on our popular Forum with hundreds of Eurovision fans across the globe.

Great Idea, Zack! Azerbaijan can buy their spot and send the new Serbian hit “Viva Azerbaijan, vote #number) 🙂

Rich sponsor eh, maybe they can ask Azerbaijan. They have money to spend now that they have to figure out ways to hide their dealings with jury members

Hopefully Serbia will find a rich sponsor to make up the financial difference
