San Marino announced plans to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2022 with a single sentence about a national final for their representative.
In a post from San Marino RTV (SMRTV) [translated from Italian], San Marino appears to be joining in the national final selection fun once again, with “Una Voce per San Marino”. This competition will select the representative for the country and doesn’t appear to select the song at this time. No concrete dates for the selection were provided in the post, but may suggest the selection starting in 2021 and continuing into 2022.
This is different than both previous Sammarinese selections that weren’t internal selections. In 2018, San Marino presented an internationally-flavored national selection, 1in360, with the winner being Jessika’s “Who We Are” (featuring Jenifer Brening). In 2020 before the Song Contest was cancelled, Senhit was announced as San Marino’s representative with a Digital Battle to select her song. “Freaky!” emerged victorious in the duel in online voting.
San Marino will be represented in 2021 by Senhit’s “Adrenalina”, with high hopes for a strong result for the microstate in Rotterdam.
