It’s always a big occasion in the Eurovision calendar when a country decides on its song for Europe, but in recent years one of the biggest decisions has been which artist will represent Germany in the contest. Following the country’s overnight success story of the 2010 victory the Big 5 member has seen a myriad of big names and plucky wildcards take to the stage in various formats. Tonight will see more of the same!

Following the controversial election and then demotion of Xavier Naidoo late in 2015, German broadcaster NDR has gathered together a lower-key roster of performers (although some readers will no doubt know the names Avantasia, Gregorian and Luxuslärm) than usual this year and has scrapped the club concert round but tonight still promises to be a great show. 10 artists will compete for Germany’s ticket to the Eurovision final;

  1. Ella Endlich – Adrenalin
  2. Joco – Full Moon
  3. Gregorian – Masters of Chant
  4. Woods of Birnam – Lift Me Up (From The Underground)
  5. Luxuslärm – Solange Liebe in mir wohnt
  6. Keøma – Protected
  7. Avantasia – Mystery of a Blood Red Rose
  8. Alex Diehl – Nur ein Lied
  9. Jamie-Lee Kriewitz – Ghost
  10. Laura Pinski – Under The Sun We Are One

Also featured in tonight’s show will be a special interval performance of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” by German band The BossHoss and the Dutch runners-up in 2014, The Common Linnets. Barbara Schöneberger will once again take on hosting duties.

Three songs from this selection will advance to a superfinal through public voting which will again decide the victor from the final three.

Watch the show tonight online HERE from 20:15 CET.
