Melfest 2024 preparation is in full swing, we have submissions in and now we have dates.
Last week, SVT announced that there were 2624 applications to Melodifestivalen this year. This is a drop from last years over 2800 applications.
And today, the organising committee at SVT have announced the locations and dates of the 2024 Melfest competitions. And they are as follows:
- Deltavling 1 – Malmo – 3rd February
- Deltavling 2 – Gothenburg – 10th February
- Deltavling 3 – Vaxjo – 17th February
- Deltavling 4 – Eskilstuna – 24th February
- Deltavling 5 – Karlstad – 2nd March
- Final – Stockholm – 9th March
The date of ticket sales has not been released yet, although last year this happened at the start of November.
This year, the second chance round/semi-final has been replaced with a 5th heat which will end with a run off vote for all the 3rd and 4th placed artists. The number competing in the final will remain at 12.
The Melodifestivalen circus is right around the corner, starting in our Eurovision host city Malmo and finishing as always in the Friends Arena in Stockholm/Solna. Sweden are on the search for their next winner after Loreen’s stunning victory in Liverpool. Can they win again on home soil?
The Eurovision Song Contest will take place in May 2024 from Malmo in Sweden.
