Every year our “Expert” Panel comes together to judge all entries for the Eurovision Song Contest and they’re back to take apart the 2013 entries and rank them accordingly. While their characters and comments may be wacky, the scores are dead serious. All 13 panelists will comment on the song and rank them accordingly giving it points using a scale from five to zero. At the end you’ll also get to cast your vote in the poll. If you would learn more about the panelists and to discuss the show, join us on our Forum HERE

Let’s have a look at the current scoreboard:

Today the panel is going to review the Spanish entry. ESDM was internally selected by the broadcaster and the televoters/juries chose the song Contigo Hasta El Final. Let’s find out if the panelist approve of it.

Emma MagnusonWhat an amazing song this is! I really love Spanish language, and Celtic music combined with pop and rock is an awesome combination! And this girl has a very sweet voice that makes the song even better! I love it, and I hope it will do well!

Alex ChandhokAn interesting type of song, that starts off with bagpipes, then turns into a Celtic ballad, then a Celtic rock song. It has many layers, and takes it’s time to build up. It sounds like something Ireland might send, and I must admit I do like this. I feel it needed a stronger finale to really have the impact, but this is a sweet, sincere song that is hard not to appreciate. It’s proper music. Spain really have no expectations at Eurovision, so I’m sure ESDM will just enjoy themselves, and maybe they’ll get a surprisingly good result in May.

MorenikThis started out promising, it reminded me of cats screaming as I boiled them in a white wine sauce. But then the woman started singing and my ears bled. She screamed a bit again towards the middle of the song and that reminded me of the cats again however. A terrible song, only supported by the cats!

Glittery S BobSome pleasant song from Spain, but for sure it will lose among the other songs in the final. I expected something more “caliente” from this country, but I think that nobody could be very “caliente”, not comparable with me!!!

RobertA very interesting beginning, the Celtic motives are great indeed, but the rest of composition hasn’t impressed me at all. I love their attempt to bring some rock notes in the song, also the voice of the woman vocalist sounds gentle. But for my taste the song in common is boring and forgettable. I don’t think this year Spain will be very successful

King Valentino XVIIArrhhhhhhh BAGPIPES!!! They are on the list of things I cannot stand the sounds of… Bagpipes, babies crying, nails down a black board, Beyonce.. This song, it’s ok. IM SICK OF SAYING “OK”. More than half of a what I have a been a give to listen to is “ok”, I wanna say this is exquisite, a work of the art. I can’t ere though. The song isn’t awful. I ate bagpipes though with all my heart. Rufus Wainwrights latest album finishes with a bagpiper song. First Rufus song I ave ever hated. I ave House Of Rufus [13CD + 6 DVD]. It in red velvet box. I feel sexy owning it.

Eau d'yre LizzyEau: Well, what an epic musical start, isn’t it wonderful? It lasts an entire 35 seconds, and oh did I hear Scottish bagpipes? I almost thought we were going to listen to traditional Scottish music but made in Spain.
Liz: But the vocal part afer that epic start seems so slow compared to that and the rest of the song.
Eau: Oh, I have to agree. It’s a nice build up but the tempo of the vocals is too slow at the start. The song does pick up steam soon, but the slow vocal intro remains an… (to be continued)

Britni SpirsovicWOW, I have never been so deceived in my life. At first, you think the song is building up to be wonderful. As the song continues, it loses its steam, its celtic folk steam, then all of a sudden just becomes a generic pop-rock song. Regardless, Racquel sounds good, not wonderful, so it is not 100% bad. BUT I do not like deception, this deception beats Kevin Federlajn’s deception which resulted into divorce.

Dark MasterIt started well with the bagpipes and then I fell asleep. My powerful home-made caffeine product no longer works, after hearing this song. I feel….quite disappointed. I really don’t think Spain cares anymore. Bottom 6 is where this plain song is headed for. Unfortunately it is too late to be represented by Adelen and her…”Bombo”

Grandpa WatermanDuring the Good Ol’ War hippies has tried to ruin our plans of domination especially with their disgraceful Hippie Van!
But overall they sang great but they must learn Military Ol’fashioned songs to my liking!

Scotty Too HottyThis song is a disappointment. It doesn’t really get going until half way and even then it’s a little too weak. It’s very simple musically and won’t have much impact in Malmo. Her voice is pleasant enough but I doub tit will carry across to millions across the continent. Not the worst I’ve heard but certainly not the best.

I love El Sueño de Morfeo, it’s my favorite dish at our Mexican restaurant down the street…I like it extra spicy. And I actually think they may have played “Contigo hasta el final” there. It certainly sounds like the song that you hear in the background that you try to ignore while trying to have a a decent conversation with your waiter. I’m listening to the song right now and already forgot the melody. But then, I also forgot how to turn on my toaster so I may not
be a good judge.

Petronella PoetryThis is a little snoozefest to me. It is in the 90s you should be. Not here. And not now I hear.

This is shit, but I see the point. They don’t want to win and host next year. Playing it safe 🙂
