Every year our “Expert” Panel comes together to judge all entries for the Eurovision Song Contest and they’re back to take apart the 2013 entries and rank them accordingly. While their characters and comments may be wacky, the scores are dead serious. All 13 panelists will comment on the song and rank them accordingly giving it points using a scale from five to zero. At the end you’ll also get to cast your vote in the poll. If you would learn more about the panelists and to discuss the show, join us on our Forum HERE
Let’s have a look at the current scoreboard:
Denmark is sending Emmelie deForrest with her song “Only teardrops” which has been very popular among the ESC Fans. The question is, does the panel agree?

Eye for and eye, nose for a nose, a song for my darling. I get so emotional when I listen to this song that I remember how much tears I shed for Kevin Federlajn. Emmelie scoops all the emotion from your heart and dumps it on the side walk, and hopscotches on it. You have nothing but tear drops after that. That is how I feel when I listen to this song. She is so good and her song is truly good.
It is one of the songs that clearly stand out this year, but I must admit that I’m not delighted with her voice and after some more listening became repetitive. Anyway it is for sure a strong contender for win the whole thing. Especially, it reminds me of my youth when I was hopping on the plains during the Flower-Power Era.
Whistles, drums, a decent song…this really will top 10 inthe final. Her voice reminds me of Dido – a similar tone. You just know with afantastic set and performance that this will fly to the top. Although thelyrics are full of cliché’s its musically beautiful, powerful & has acertain charm. Not quite sure what else to say about it apart from – you’ve gotit in the bag Denmark.
We have a real stand-out track here, with flutes and drums to add to the gravitas of the music. This is proper Eurovision fare. A real catchy number with little ethnic bits in it to set it apart. When the 3rd chorus starts, the goosebumps go down the spine. It finishes superbly and left me wanting more. This was a big favourite from the start and I can see this doing very well come May, especially with the questionable quality of many of the songs this year. A fantastic effort by Denmark which I absolutely love.
On a battlefied far away. There goes my mind when I hear this when pressing play. She sings with such heartache. And maybe this will have a win, since that is what is on stake. The song may have some similar parts with “Druken Sailor” by Irish Rovers. But at least it is not sung by a drover.
Emmelie, my dear distant cousin! I love this song so much! This flute, awwww! I remember her since we were little and was coming to Stockholm to see our common relatives, we were singing together some jazz/blues songs and she had a very nice voice, I was jealous! But I’m happy for her now! Go girl, show them that the cast outs of the royal families are the best!
Another great performance combining dancing with drums and singing, Perfect!
My dear Emmelie, you sound demented, running around the place screaming about teardrops! Are you perhaps a victim of my famous soup that goes by the same name? I confess, it is just salty water. Please take four points as compensation!
Fortunately, this song doesn’t bring tears to my soul, I only get a lot of positive emotions while listening to it. Pleasant melody, with the influence of Celtic motifs reminds me of my childhood, when I went to the circus to watch my father’s performance. I suppose this is a composition which will be loved by a huge people audience. It deserves to be in TOP5 indeed.
Eau: Ah! Here is the girl with blue blood from Denmark. Tsk tsk. Isn’t she a cute little princess? She and I must be remotely related, Actually I’m quite certain. I should get in touch with her and notify her of our shared royal connection. In a careful and very casual way of course, I would not want her to panic when she finds out that she’s related to such an important and royal person like me. Oh! Perish the thought that she loses her precious voice from shock when she finds out! (to be continued)
If there was a Nordic country to save the rest of them from abomination, it will be the good old Danes. I do not say this because we are under them and we all know Danish in the Faroe Islands, but because Emelie is a great performer and she has a great song. Only teardrops will be left when I am through with you know who… Cheerful and compact, this entry seems and should put Denmark high up.
I ere this is the fan favourite. I’ve been told of the very clean saying “Fan Wank”. Hmmm it niiiice but I no flap up and down for it. It doesn’t in particular go to any of places excitant. When I ere it I think of other Fan Wankings that have no been successerful on the big night of Eurovision. It’s ok, much like MOST of the favourites but I want something raw with an edge.
NONE
Is she crying or singing? It’s really hard to tell. It’s that kind of song I would expect to find on an album cramped between stronger entries but would never be released as a single. The only thing I do appreciate are the drums.
CURRENT SCORE: 54

This song is overrated in my opinion, but I think I said that last year about Euphoria as well. Not to keen to go to Denmark next year tbh. It’s like we are already there this year.
