Day Nine saw the final round of second rehearsals of 2019 with the six prequalified countries having a further chance to perform and perfect their acts. We also had the orange (yellowy-red?) carpet event in the evening to mark the beginning of the contest itself! From now on, the performances count – Monday, Wednesday and Friday are the performances for the juries and Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday are for #YOU at home! There’s a kind of sadness to think that in a week this will all be over… But perhaps we are getting a little ahead of ourselves there!! Let’s have a quick look at the news that came out of Tel Aviv today.

The Montenegrin head of delegation, Sabrija Vulić, has announced that he wants to see an expanded Montevizija to select their entry next year as it’s “a chance for young musicians to introduce themselves to the public.” Excitingly, this indicates that Montenegro intend returning to the contest next year, as well as giving us more National Final entries to enjoy!

Leea Nanos, who came 9th in Australia Decides this year, has started a social media campaign to represent Greece next year. Unlike Montenegro, we have not heard any updates from Greece as to whether they will be returning, so perhaps a little presumptuous on her part, but hopefully Greece will return for 2020 and so she may be putting herself in the running early on to represent them!

Everyday, escYOUnited, your favourite Eurovision site, will be bringing you a roundup of the day’s events to make sure #YOU don’t miss a thing!

The six countries performing today were as follow, with links to the official ESC snippets below! Click on the song title to check out the rehearsal footage.

🇮🇱 Israel: Kobi Marimi – “Home”

🇫🇷 France: Bilal Hassani – “Roi”

🇪🇸 Spain: Miki – “La Venda”

🇬🇧 UK: Michael Rice –“Bigger Than Us”

🇩🇪 Germany: S!sters – “Sister”

🇮🇹 Italy: Mahmood – “Soldi”

Today’s ESCXTRA press poll showed that France had the most promising rehearsal. France have had quite a remarkable week, with their odds shortening rapidly, and are currently the third favourite to win. Italy have been slipping somewhat in the last few days, but still came out of today’s rehearsals with a strong second place. The only difference between the press poll ranking and the odds ranking was that Israel came ahead of the UK, so it seems that things are beginning to settle out.

Which rehearsal did #YOU enjoy the most/least? Has anything made #YOU change your mind about a song? Let us know below in the comments, or on our forum!
